    Anything would be better than the stock speakers, about to replace mine, looking for speakers now.

    I just bought the (almost) same speakers - the IS-690TOY (separate tweeter instead of coax) - I'll have input by this weekend hopefully. Now I'm shopping for head units LOL

    Probably not - but hoping to HEAR a bit of a difference! ;)

    All kidding aside - I doubt it'll be significant, but I don't push my current system too hard - but I'm planning on an aftermarket head unit, so I expect the combination should be an improvement. HOPING anyway ....

    How does the JBL system stack up to the non-JBL system? Great, good, decent, not worth the $$ ... ?

    So would these fit both front doors and rear doors? I know the ones i put in last time used plastic adapters that crutchfield sent with. Hmm im curious to how they would sound compared to the cheaper JL Audio coaxs. I currently have pioneer 4 ways up front and some kickers in rear with no amp.... not doing enough for me. This looks like a good investment to run with an amp but kinda on the pricey side? $600 for 4 speakers! OUCH!

    OME 3" lift MK6 wheels 285 Fierce MTs & 4.88s!!
    I checked, and Crutchfield says that these won't fit a 2014 Regular cab. Does anybody know why that would be?? I thought all front door speakers from 2nd gen Tacomas would interchange.

    That's mainly what's pushing me to buy these specifically. I hate brackets. I might just order these and be the guinea pig.

    I just bought these speaker along with
    $277 Alpine KTP-445A Head Unit Power Pack
    Alpine KTP-445A Power Pack for my Alpine HU. I figured this would be the easiest, best sounding solution for the money. The power pack amplifies the speakers through the standard OEM speaker wires. The speakers are direct Plug n Play. I'll let you guys know how they sound I should have em installed come mid next week.

    I installed mine - just finished about 30 minutes ago. I haven't had much listening time, but here are my initial thoughts (I do not have the JBL stereo - just the standard Entune Plus)

    1 - the sound is clearer / crisper - the imaging is better
    2 - not as much bass
    3 - volume isn't noticeably louder or quieter
    4 - install is easy

    I am hoping for a bit better bass response after they break in - they sound crisp with no distortion at around 40 - 45 volume level. I'm thinking an amp and or a sub may help. Definitely a new head unit (if I get the $$ I'll be going AVIC 6100NEX I think)

    Hope this helps for initial thoughts.

    I think these speakers would sound incredible with both front and rears and an alpine headunit and the small booster alpine offers. My guess is the stock radio is somewhere around 10rms so the clarity and loudness will suffer until the rms is amplified. I was looking at replacing my current setup but your talking $1000 by time you order 2 pairs of these a hu and amp. I'll be interested to see what everyone says when they get there's installed as well. If we get some positive reviews maybe I'll see if I can get ahold of crutchfield and set up a group buy for the speakers and an amp.
