Fog light wiring issues

    I’m betting that if they are aftermarket, the switch is + feed to relay.
    Toyota uses Negative, it doesn’t matter. But there’s been more than one case of “total confusion”
    trying to wire after market Fog Lights to OE diagrams.

    Im by no means saying your advice is wrong Jimmy, as I have much respect for your knowledge.
    You know far more than me.

    I’m just trying to take care of a question, before it gets asked.
    If know what I mean?

    The majority of the ones I’ve dealt with work like the ones below.

    I do tend to get tunnel vision and assume that someone doing electrical work knows what they are doing and the different ways to switch a circuit.


    I agree. Many people get confused by the sinking ( Switching the negative ) and sourcing ( Switching the positive ) methods of controlling a load. Both work equally well as long as it is done properly.

    You and caribe's drawing are always spot on.

    The problem that can arise is that not all switch indicator lights can deal with switching the ground. Unexpected indicator light operation can result.
