This a very good good option of the fog light always on mod If you are under warranty and worry about altering your truck. 99.9% of chances your dealer won't notice.

Great OP, nice and clean.... Carib & rendog.., so I don't have to demonstrate my proficiency in the use of colorful adjectives.., is there a trick to separating that panel with ease? Also, 30 minutes about right?? -> seemed like it should be quicker.

Thanks to Crom too for pointing out the two 'clean' versions for this mod.

    Thanks in advance!

Dang, had I not already done another method I'd be all over this. Guess I could always revert to this method :p

first i released the 2 tabs closest to the fender then pull up slightly. i stuck some "wedges" (i used a thin paperclip wire) in the 2 tabs to hold it in place & keep em from slipping back in. then starting in the top left corner released each tab moving clockwise & shimmy the panel up after each tab.

after all the colorful language, the "wedges" finally did the trick. hope that helps

Did this mod today.....nice and clean....took about 30 minutes especially once you figure out how to remove the wire from harness. Out of all the ways to do "Fog Lights Anytime" This is the best!! IMO

    Thanks:)

I wasn't sure where/how the locking mechanism was on the wire.....soooo after closer examination, I realized that my screw driver was a bit too big to pry the lock. As a result, I used a safety pin and unlokced it in that fashion....very easy mod once I had this done and I think the front end looks way better with only the fog lights on!!:thumbsup:

I cannot get that little guy out?

    Thanks in advance.

Use a needle or safety pin and at the front of the slot that you want the wire remove....add pressure down and bend it towards the front.......As this is happening, use a very small screwdriver and press down on the metal pin you wish to remove.

Look at an empty slot and you will see what I mean...the plastic tab is on the fuse box itself and not the wire...

    Hope this helps

Cool, I'll give it a shot.., thanks for the help!

Buttoned it back up for the day, but will try again soon.

Oddly enough.. I initially struggled separating the panel, but just ended up pulling with steady pressure upwards and hitting the clips one by one.., popped right out.

Anyone else considering this mod..don't over think this part..., just pull upward while releasing the clips....

When you say "remove the wire from harness" are you talking about when you remove the slot 21 pin?

This is the spot that I am stuck at. I can't figure out how to remove that pin from its slot.

Thanks for the quick reply caribe.

So once you hold down the retaining tab and put the screwdriver into the female pin, it will just come right out (sticking to the screwdriver)?

Just finished my first mod to my truck! Much thanks to caribe for putting this together and replying to my questions on this thread ASAP!

I am curious though why the fog light indicator on the dash comes on only when the headlights are switched on? Not a big deal to me in the grand scheme of things but just curious.

There isn't a fog light indicator. That's either the headlight indicator or the brights indicator you're seeing.

Aaahh. I will have to pay attention to that. I could have swore that when I had the lights turned on the only time that I saw that light was when I put the fogs on. I am more than likely wrong though since I have only driven the truck a couple of times with the lights on...

I have only had my truck 6 days and this is one of the first mods I did. People are making way to much about the difficulty of this mod. Follow this with the addition of Jasonleblond's follow up (toothpics were a killer idea)

Caribe, Thank you so much for this info. Very well explained.
the only thing I didn't expect was to not be able to flip over the lower unit. I used a mirror to locate the wire from 21 and again to put into 12.
Go slow, be patient and don't skip ahead. It took me 40 minutes and I was only on my second Gin and Tonic.
