    Working on a 2015 Tacoma 4cyl

alright I am out of ideas. I have two aftermarket kits installed on my Tacoma. One for foglights, the other for light bar and ditch lights. Everything was working and over time the light bar stopped working and then later the fog lights stopped as well. I have tried to isolate the issue but I ended up getting all new kits and installing them both all over again.
The kicker is, the lights still don’t work. I’ve checked fuses grounds shorts splice points ect. At my wits end here. I am trying to regroup and figure out what I’ve missed. Please help.

You mean these guys?? I’m not quite sure how to tell if they’re bad but if that was my problem on the old kits and the brand new kits are bad out of the box that’s quite a coincidence.

They should have an audible click when powered if working. Have someone hold it while switching it on and see if they feel the relay engage. Are the fogs LED? Did you try switching the polarity? Do you have a multi-meter to try and trace the problem?

A click will tell you the coil is getting power, but the contacts could still be failed. Best to pull the relay and bench check all the connection points.

As for the fog lights I am hearing an audible click when turning on and off the switch.
As for the light bar I get nothing no audible sound when using the switch.

Try reversing the positive and negative connections for the fogs, it may be a polarity issue.

As for the light bar, try swapping the relay with another one to see if you get the click.

Starting with the easiest possible solution, have you checked the connection at the light to the harness? Sometimes the “waterproof” connectors aren’t as waterproof and can get moisture inside and start to corrode. If it’s suspect, I’d just replace the plug/connection.
You could also test the lights by connecting them directly to +/- at the battery and bypass the harness. That’ll narrow down your problem at the light or the harness.

you have two very knowledgeable guys that already posted above but I always start at the light and work my way back.

I ordered new relays today. I checked connection points for corrosion and polarity issues with the fog lights. The wire harnesses are brand new as of a day ago. I switched the polarity at the fog lights and nothing changed.
can someone give me a crash course on bench testing the current relays?
    Thanks!

So, it’s not the relays. Replaced them both no changes. I will keep searching.

Did you check the OEM relay? Edit: In the fuse box.

I did not check any oem relays. I thought the circuit bypassed the oem wiring? I’m probably wrong though.

Have you checked for voltage at the lights with a meter? I didn't see where you have looked at voltage anywhere.

Start at the lamp sockets and go back until you have voltage. Then you will know where the circuit is failing.

Power Source >> Fuse >> Switch>> Relay Coil.

Power Source >> Fuse >> Relay Contact >> Lamp.

I would buy a multi-meter. Set to voltage and test the battery + and chassis ground to confirm the meter works.

then probe the relay coil with the switch off and on. Pins are labeled 85 and 86. Doesn’t matter which is + and which is negative so try both ways. That’s ruling out problems with the switch.

Also test input to the relay, labeled pin 30. Typically that is wired to fused power. If blown, troubleshoot that.

pin 87 is switched output. If it goes to 12v with the switch on you just need to troubleshoot that to the lights.

if the lights are toast, confirm by direct touch to the battery. LED’s can die catastrophically.

you can really start anywhere, at the light, at the relay, or at the switch. Just rule out problems one at a time.
