Anyone figured out the wiring to do the fog light anytime mod on the 16? I searched and came up empty handed.....seems most are doing the HID mods and whatnot now. To be honest I didnt even open that thread. HID mod thread with 20 pages cant be good IMO.

I am curious as well and may play with the relay pins and such similar to other gens. I think it'd be bad ass to have the HIDs, LED Fogs, and LED highs on lol. (That HID thread isn't bad BTW.)

The second gen was an easy mod but can't be done the same way on gen 3. For now, I just leave the parking lights on and turn on the fogs. They all shut down when the engine is turned off. The one PITA is that you have to switch the display over to daytime mode during the day or you will be looking at the darker night screen. Gives you about the same look as the gen 2 mod.

Just treat it as if you're installing accessory light. Buy an led or hid kit 4300k, with a relay harness n a switch. Wire it to the battery, connect the remote wire to a fuse and master switch into the cabin.

I'd love to see a Mod for this also.... I did the mod on my '06 and is important to me... I live in the "boonies" and would like to have the capability to turn them on with high beams if "I" want to.... IE:... let ME make that decision, not the freakin' truck..!!!!

An easy way, but not the best way, cut the incoming power on the fog lights, splice a new wire to them, run it into your can and connect it to the proper side of the switch, if my theory is correct you should be bypassing the relay. I also could be completely wrong and wasting your time reading this

And then you turn on the high beams... they go off.... IE: I do not have control here in the backwoods... the truck does.!!!!

If anybody has access to the factory service manual and the electrical schematics, it can't be too hard to figure out.

Blue wire from Pin 9 on combination switch goes to the body ECU pin 26 (Connector M6), if you cut/depin this wire and connect it to the beige wire between the fog relay and the body ECU (between pin 27 on junction 1F and pin 2 on the engine relay block), this should give you full control of the fog lights, though the power source to the fogs is always present, so they will stay on when the car is off. You'd likely want to use a switched ground (not common on Toyotas) or a relay that is only energized when the truck is on, or switch the power source to the fog relay (more problematic).

    tl;dr: It's possible.

In theory, if you connected connector 1F (dash junction block beside/connected to body ECU) pin 27 (pin 9) with the body ECU pin 26 (blue), it should give you full fog light control, even when the car is off. If you put a relay energized by accessory power to switch that jumped connection in place, it would only allow fogs to be turned on when the key is on.

Cutting/depinning the wire going to each source would be a safer option though, wouldn't want to backfeed anything in the ECU/junction block.

I take it you have the schematic?

I'm thinking you could put a diode inline on the jumper to prevent it from back-feeding.

I do, yeah. Putting in a diode could work too, though it's just more work when you can just cut or depin the wires and not have to use a diode.

I'm just thinking if you were going to the trouble to add a relay so they'd go off with the headlights, then adding a diode wouldn't be a big deal. Any chance I can get a look at the schematic?
