So I have a 2014 double cab 4.0 L Tacoma and I did this mod exactly as it is described, with using a quick splice to the green wire on the suggested plug, and running a wire to the bent out tab on the fog light relay, and…nothing.
What could I be doing wrong, does anyone have a clue?

I did and even changed the quick splice and still nothing.

Do you have a link to what you did?
If we see what you did, we might be able to give you an idea.

A link to the guide you followed would help.

Did the fogs work before you started?

Is the fuse good? Especially check if you did not disconnect the battery while doing your work.

Yep fog light worked before I attempted the mod and are working now. I don’t understand my problem at all. In checking the quick splice it appeared to bite the wire perfectly makes no sense to me because this certainly looks simple!!

Those quick splices that cut into the wire can be hit or miss wheather they make connection when they are new, once they get a bit of corrosion on them they are downright terrible.
I won't use them except as a temporary measure or last resort.

Um well my computer skills are very limited. I have a photo in my phone of the link but I can’t seem to get it into this thread.

About the quick splice, it seemed safe to me to use cause I don’t want to mess up any wiring just to have the lights work a different way. I’d like to have this mod but I’m not willing to risk a wiring issue.
I’m a man of more blessings that I can count, but…. I’m not very lucky. :)

“Fog lights anytime mod” is the name and the link is given in the 5th response into the thread. That’s the link I used.

Is it possible you bent the wrong prong on the relay?

If so, you basically eliminated the Fog Switch.

A test light or voltmeter is going to be needed here.

The thread I looked at shows a picture of the relay and which prong to bend. I thought about that but the picture of the relay confirmed to me that it was the correct prong. Also the fog lights worked with the headlights on, as they are supposed to.

I should also say that throughout this fiasco the fog lights have worked with the headlights on, as they were intended to. In addition I unplugged the wiring harness when I attached the quick splices on both attempts. :)

So let me ask this, if the quick splice isn’t such a good thing, then what’s the best way to tap into that wire?

Did you use the correct tap for gauge wire you are tapping into?

I bet your on the wrong relay, on the 2012+ trucks the fog light relay is in the little acessory fuse box (see the thread I linked above).
