Looking to buy fog lights for my 2016 SR.. not looking for crazy expensive but still want quality. Also I’m not sure what I need to buy to have these fit because there currently isn’t a housing for the bulb in the SR I have. If anybody could point me in the right directions I would appreciate it!

I know it left me smiling and satisfied. No seriously, i bought a cheap ebay kit with a harness, lights, switch etc. and then realized I needed the OEM bezels, an additional switch plate, and a better switch.

But eventually I got a dash switch working with the dogs I installed. At some point in the future I'll replace the reflectors with better quality reflectors, but for now it helps considerably.

I appreciate the help fellas. Started reading through that thread and I’m thinking that’s a little above my pay grade of technical knowledge. This is the first truck I’ve ever really started to work on so a lot of that thread went right over my head lol

I felt the same way, but it really isn't bad. Just read that thread like 10 more times, then order your parts, and follow his instructions step by step as you do it and you'll be fine.

I use mine all the time, super happy I did it.

Check the for sale section for lights and bezels then get the grill harness from eBay. From there you can choose a dash switch or swapping the stalk. I swapped the stalk and was happy I did since I didn’t want to hack up the factory harness. I bought all the parts new except the fog lights and bezels the thread referenced was a huge help.

What do you mean hack up the harness? Not saying you're wrong, just genuinely curious/confused. The way I did it with a dash switch, the fog lights are independent of the truck electronics except for a (+) battery lead. Harness has built-in independent fuse. I like the ability to keep the dogs on with my highbeams.

If you wanted to use the factory wiring for the fog lights and the truck was equipped with the dash wiring going to the headlight stalk, you can tap into that wire for a dash switch or just upgrade the stalk to the one with the integrated fog switch. I opted to go with the factory plug and play option since my SR had the dash wiring. All I needed to activate it was the relay and the proper fog light headlight stalk.

So I was reading into that thread and I was curious if the wiring will be the same for any fog light I buy and if that still flies on the 3rd gen tacos. I would like to buy different lights than the TRDOR ones but was hoping that wiring is the same all the way down to the fog light then I can plug any fog light into the harness.

What lights were you looking to get? Some have plug and play options offered with them. For instance I put baja design squadron sports in my fog pockets and they came with the mounting hardware and electrical connections that would interface with the stock wiring. They are SUPER bright so it was my plan all along to not run them as fogs, rather to run them as auxiliary high beams (using a relay i tapped the high beam signal to be the trigger wire).
