I meet tacos regularly at night head on that are running their fogs. Never once did I think they were too bright! Leave em on, it only bothers the old schoolers and people who think they are designed for one thing only. Be honest haters, it looks good and doesn't really blind you......right?

I leave mine on as DTRLs and to make my truck more visible as it seems to be invisible to some of the asshats around here... Can't count the number of times I've been cut off, pulled out in front of, or almost sideswiped by assholes that seemed completely oblivious to this relatively large truck being there. Then again, I plan on installing train horns to wake those SOBs up too. In the mean time, I take whatever help I can get.

And really, when they go on and off with the key why make the effort to turn them on and off as needed?

My lights are always on, both fogs and headlights for safety in the day and so I can see and be seen at night. Our fog lights are aimed correctly and don't bother oncoming traffic. I have seen other Tacoma's coming towards me and they are not causing any problems with blinding drivers. If they were I am sure I would get the light flash to tell me to turn them off. Lights on all the time.

I like to turn my lights on at nights. I am aimed my fogs leveled with my low beams so I will not blind anyone oncoming traffic. But when I head home in rural AZ, I will raise them fog lights (only because it is open range). I don't want to hit any livestock.

I am really surprised and disappointed to read some of these responses. First, current research related to lighting for first responders, is to keep it to a minimum, particularly when not moving, as motorists tend to drive into the lights when they are DUI, become confused, or are overwhelmed by the amount of light. Second, as people age their eyesight deteriorates and bright lights become disorienting as the light tends to flare and more time is required to regain "night vision" -- just to put this into perspective, your eyes where roughly twice as sensitive at age ten as they are at age twenty. Third, show a little compassion for your fellow drivers, why blind them when you don't really need the light? Flame away -- I was trained as a firefighter/medic and can take the heat!

You may have valid points there, but if they were true why are more and more vehicles coming with daytime running lights (most are just the main head lights on all the time)? And why is there an insurance discount for this "safety feature"?

Personally, I think I can see cars much better with lights on as apposed to off. Especially dark colored cars on rainy or overcast days. They tend to blend into the road, shadows, or surrounding vegetation. White cars on snowy or foggy days are just as bad.

And that doesn't even address the fact I haven't really had anyone cut me off or pull out in front of me since I started leaving my lights on.

    Edit:
As for your training, I could understand keeping FLASHING or COLORED lights to a minimum as people never know if they're supposed to pull over, or not for red/blue/flashing lights on vehicles obviously not police or emergency (fire truck, ambulance, etc).

i have amber foggies so during the day i have them off because you can still tell theyre yellow cuz of the film. i turn them on during the night to keep the yellow ambers theme going.

I have wanted to do this for a while. please figure it out yotapainter! I hate it when my fogs shut off when i go to the brights. sometimes i just drive on low beam because it lights up more of my surrounding area.

Which part do you want him to figure out? There's already a mod so your fogs don't turn off with high beam.....

lol No worries! The mod basically unlinks them from the headlight switch. So you can have them on or off regardless of headlight status as long as the key is on.
