I just got the 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport, and after looking at so many after-market tonneaus my head is spinning. But after all this, I REALLY like the Fold-a-Cover G4 Elite. It isn't out year for the 2016 (I contacted them via e-mail...any day now), but I would love to hear what previous model Taco owners with this cover think of it. Thanks!

Look for the numerous previous post regarding the cover. Anyways I owned mine for about two and a half years now. The rubber seals on the latches are torn up but my truck isn't garage. Very little water leak even after this. I would still buy the cover again because of its functionality. Works well for my front cab fishing pole setup.

Thanks, AnchorCop. I had searched, but found only hit-or-miss mentions in general tonneau discussions, and most of them were not helpful. I think I am going to wait for the G4.

I got one for my 2014. It's well made. Have a read in the appropriate sub forum, some posts about it. Use 303 protectant on the seals, prolly last longer. I only had mine for 3 months. I made a post about installing it 3 months ago, some others have also.

I too have been waiting patiently for them to come out! My old man has one on his 2013 and has no complaints. Pretty much water tight, with only a little water sneaking in when it really pours and only minimal.

Email I got on 2/12 said they expected to be taking orders in the next few weeks. Glad to hear they are up to "any day." This is the cover I want hope it is soon. Hopefully they won't have the issues some other covers have had.

That's the same line they have been giving me for the past 3 months. Not sure what their issues are but I'm not holding my breath waiting.

I'm also waiting for the G4. The previous one that I had on my 2012 was pretty waterproof for the first three years, and then only a few slight drips in heavy rain in a spot where I damaged one of the seals. The functionality of the front panel opening is my favourite feature, so I'm hoping something gets released soon.

I exchanged a few messages with them on Thursday (25th) and was told there were some improvements to the installation, but that details are still not available to the sales guys. However, they are supposedly very close. Hopefully they're closer now than they were when they were very close at the end of December!

Just to be clear, this cover mounts on top and allows you to still use the rails correct? That's the main reason I'd choose this over the BakFlip even though I like that it allows more bed access.

That's right.... It does use the factory rails to mount, but only for the fixed mounting points to screw in, then the rails are still clear for the cleats to be used. The cover itself sits above the level of the bed, so you've got the full height of the bed for storage and cover doesn't interfere with the cleats.

They have been saying "any day now" since January. I have given up on the G4 and will be ordering the Extang 2.0 this week. Seems to be a pretty legit cover and if you can get it for $655 (which other members on here have), I'd consider that a no brainer!

None yet really. Fold-a-cover G4 Elite tonneau cover. Will get new tires...
Anyone receive the G4 Elite Tonneau cover yet?

Curious about fit, look, leaks on 2016/17? Also considering the Bakflip MX4, however heard that you need to do some serious caulking/sealing to avoid leaks (because of the plastic bed rail covers having indented designs on them). I'm in Vancouver so will see fair share of rain and want my bed to stay dry. Thanks

I have had mine for a while now. I don't remember when I got it, but it was shortly after it came out. Some leaks, but nothing major and mostly just when I go through the car wash. I have been very happy with my cover. Search, there are some threads on this after people started getting the covers.

I've had mine on for about 2 months now and love it. One of the best things I bought for the truck so far. The only water I have comes from a gap on the driver's side near the cab. Easily fixed with a little piece of the tailgate seal that comes with the G4. It does take a little while to install it but once it's on, it looks sooooo good. And I use 303 on it every time I wash the truck. Hope this helps.

Hello, I was watching some videos on the install. I saw that on the older models you had to drill at the tailgate for the latching. Is this still the case for the newer G4?

I've had mine for a few months now and I really like it. There is a little bit of leakage at the front corners but not much.
That said, the key hole still seems to get moisture in it despite having a "sealed" rubber cover. Mine is for an access cab with the 6 foot bed.

stuck between deciding on the G4 and extang encoure..i dont like how you have to drill a hole in the bed for the drainage of the extang, but it seems to be build better

There was no drilling required when I put mine on. @sml2727 I think the price I paid was around $800 or so. However, there is a TW code to take some cash off. I think it was "TacomaWorld16" or "TW16" Something like that. I'm sure if you search for it in the forums you can find it.
