I tried to search around a bit to see what folks used but got thin returns. Basically, the gap at the forward upper bed rail needs to be sealed prior to the cap going on. Also, many folks seem to have sealed the forward rail as well. I am wondering if folks used polyurethane or silicone or something else. I had decided to use a marine sealant but 5200 is pretty permanent. I suppose if I ever had to take off that piece I should use something that i could get off. Silicone seems to always debond after a few years at best. So seems like a good quality polyurethane is the way to go... many of them are for roofing and hard to work with though.

any input from folks that have done with good results? The cap installer says he only puts it around the outside which IMO is worthless over the long haul. I intend to pull this piece off and seal underneath it.

i bought some black silicone today and some black polyurethane today and did a little test to see how these cure to the bed liner. I'll pass on the results.
I think I am likely to go with the poly. I know silicone promises a lot on the label but my experiences over the years has been different. It always come off way too easy.

5200 is forever, use 4200 instead!
