Hey everyone thanks for taking the time to read. So i live on the backside of a mountain eitch, my buddy told me whennl i first moved up here, is notorious for 'eating trucks'. He was speaking truth.
The roads are gnarly. Year round. I live 10 miles from pavement thats up to the peak and down the other side to the back. No road Association on the last stretch to home, its ruff.
I have a 99 single cab 2.7l with fabtech 3 inch adjustable lift. Just the coilovers up front with stock control arms and everything else. One early winter coming around a turn shifted to second, boom. Dead stop. Passenger side sitting on the face of the the passenger tire. Lower ball joint. Excpected it needing to be done had parts at home. Did the uppers the previous night
I just bought a few weeks back a 98 ext cab 3.4l sr5. Sweet truck i wanted it for a while. In the front it has toytec 3 inch adjustable coilovers everything else stock up front.
Week of having it left my spot started driving up to the peak. Boom.bounce this time. Stop. Front underside corner of my door the truck is sitting on the top of the still standing up right tire. Witch still has steering knuckle, break caliper, cv,and the tirod end whos the one only thing now that is attached to vehicle and wheel.
Any advise, knowledge, recommendations on witch way to go for parts would be greatly appreciated. Also when the axle ripped off out the front diff messed up the first bearing going into the differential. Might be more damage all i was able to see. Had to walk strait home and dismantle the 99 so i could get ir moved and out the middle of the road so others can get by.
Again any input would be awesome.
    Ok thanks yall. Drive safe

It's less Tacoma and more mod
@Blackdawg, this level of LBJ failure repair is more in your wheelhouse. I have suspension suggestions but we generally echo eachother there too.

    Been there...done that. 4 times.

So when your at speed and the wheel gets sucked under like that you probably destroyed the upper ball joint, steering rack, brake line and maybe the wheel depending on how bad it was. The CV boot of course and if you lost a tulip bearing then a CV joint.

Repair should be too bad unless the steering rack ripped off some if the mounts. Mine spit in half two times doing this but only destroyed a mount once on the passenger side which had to be re welded on. I'm sure the driver side is tweaked though.

Check the tie rods as well.

Repairs are pretty straight forward otherwise.

As for the lbj they are know to do this and the bolts are know for failing too. Best practice is to check the lbjs for play regularly, I'd STRONGLY suggest only running oem lbjs too. The parts store ones are barely any cheaper and a whole lot worse. Check the bolt torque regularly as well which should be 55-60ftlbs.

If your abusing the truck on rough roads I'd swap out the lbj ever two years or 50k miles depending on what comes first.

Fear not though. It is fixable other than shearing a bolt off in the spindle can be a bit hard to deal with..but I've been there. 4 times.

    4 run, 2 don't

Pictures, let's see what all is damaged exactly and we'll start pointing out what to replace, where to buy it, and everything in between.

Good example of needing to replace those LBJs if the mileage/condition is unknown.

Thanks for the replys everyone! Having issues getting the pics of the recent problem on the new truck to upload.
I know whats needs replacing was looking for some suggestions of what to get. Dont want stock UCAs. Was thinking about long travel for distance between tire and UCA. Cuz ima be back to throwing on chains periodically soon here. Also wondering about bearings for the front diff

Long travel isn't a lift. It's upgraded geometry to almost double wheel travel. I have this as well and it won't help clear chains, if anything it'll make it worse.

Ucas...pick something. All are good really. Light racing is a good ball joint setup. Any uniball is good.

Getting a name brand coilover setup would be best too. Ads/king/fox/ect.

Nice. Looks like some good carnage.

Hope the steering rack stuff is okay
