Virtual bullet has a good write up on that question, it is one of the most common questions asked.

Many complain that the 22 uses a lot more fuel. Some say it does not. I would start with how much food do you plan on smoking on it? 18" works fine for me but have to get creative with a large brisket.

If I didn't live where it was so damn cold half the year I'd get a 26" kettle instead. :anonymous:

Use my 22" kettle ~3 times a week for smoking. Last night was 8 sausage patties 4 with PF meat massage. And a couple of crab and cheese stuffed Anaheim peppers.

Holds temps pretty much as steady as the WSM. But has disadvantages in the winter as do most things up here.

Just found this TW smoking thread. Thought I'd say hi and show off the beef ribs I made last weekend on my homemade UDS! Unfortunately no cut pictures. They didn't stay on the plates too long.

Well, I've had my UDS for 3 years, and aside from maybe building another with some improvements, I have no need for anything bigger/better/shinier. Now if only the cost of beef wasn't so high!!!

I mean all the meats and the stuff you find out that you need that you were unaware of before someone here pointed out that they aren't sure how life existed before.

Oh, trust me, the Tacoma part is definitely the cause of my lack of $$$.

If you have a Brazilian market near you, check it out. My gf is from Brazil and gets cuts of beef at ridiculously low prices. She got a whole beef tenderloin for $30 the other day!!

Man that's an excellent price. I will have to look around. One of my friends is getting a hookup at a meat market, we did some custom laser engraving for them now they are supposed to scratch our backs.

Ya so do I. Would be nice to not feel like I have to sell a vital organ to get a whole ribeye to cut for steaks. :)

Always works out cheaper to buy the whole ribeye & cut your own steaks.

I believe she also paid about $30 for this rack of ribs. Not sure what beef ribs normally go for. I've also discovered that smoked Picanha is pretty amazing.

It's the cost of admittance for the whole ribeye.
