I grew up eating chili and peanut butter sandwiches so I’m sure that chili and cinnamon rolls can’t be bad. Just a weird combo at first thought lol

I’ll just stick with Frito’s, WTH I’d try it at least.

I grew up in Texas so Frito pie was a regular thing. First time my wife, then G/F, went to Texas with me she was shocked to see it on menus. She thought it was just some silly family recipe and not a real thing.

    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/206953/authentic-cincinnati-chili/

It's goddam gross, let's not sugar coat it. They BOTH have cinnamon. That's PRETTY close!

You can enjoy what you want, I don't really care - but cinnamon in chili? No, just NO. Not right or proper.

I have no rub with cinnamon or cinnamon rolls. Hell I like really good Vietnamese cinnamon.

I was at a beer festival and hit up a food vendor that was serving chili. Being Texan, I ordered the Texas chili. They asked “Dry or wet?” WTF?!?!? Uh.. wet?

Wet meant they did not squeeze the grease out. No tomato sauce or anything. Just ground chuck cooked in its own grease with seasonings. Not even good seasonings. I couldn’t eat it so I went back to complain which led to a discussion with the chef. He began offering up tastings of their other chili versions.

Took a bite of the Cincinnati chili and couldn’t quite place the taste until he offered it up as cinnamon.

WTF dude?!? Cinnamon??? Why the fuck would you put cinnamon in chili. This ain’t no freakin dessert pastry thing. This is chili. Not a pumpkin pie. Why would you do that?

Needless to say he was not amused at the rant I laid into him with. Until then I did not know just how delusional and confused people from Cincinnati were.

Ok, to me Cincinnati chili is just any version of chili you make, served over spaghetti. imo it sux.

Try your version of chili and have a cinnamon roll on the side. That is chili and a cinnamon roll. And it's good.

And your chili is correct? A lot of folks will argue beans don’t belong in chili so maybe you are wrong?

I was relating a story to how I reacted to chili with cinnamon in it. If you want cinnamon in your chili, put it in there and enjoy. I am from Texas where they say if you know beans about chili, you know chili doesn’t have beans in it. Yet I put beans in my chili.

    Ya, you betcha!

At least one night on the North Shore of Lake Superior will hunt around Crooked Lake and go to the Trestle Inn. Not many people live around there and is on the South end of the Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness Area. Most everyone leaves mid Oct. when the water and pipes freeze up but they stay open all year.

It is where the locals go to eat

I'll get my annual Train wreck with causalities.

Beef patty, brat patty, cheese, mushroom soup, bacon, and topped with tater tots and more cheese

Not for everyone. But are great IMO. 1 a year works afraid if I had more than that would drop over dead of a heart attack LOL.

My girl was making chili one night and the last thing she was adding was a scoop of cumin... or so we thought until she dumped it in and the smell of cinnamon hit her.

We ordered pizza that night, that chili was inedible.
