Yeah 22" wide would work for most briskets here. For my 18" WSM I need 16" max length to keep from overhanging the edges of the heat shield\water pan. Unless I put a beer can under the center of the brisket to help it fit and don't like to do that. They do shrink and eventually can pull it out but not my favorite way of doing it. One reason haven't done a brisket in several years. This new little Pit Boss is 22" wide also and that would work for most of them, hmm maybe brisket time soon.

Have carried a 3' Stanley pocket tape measure for years now and when Costco gets in Prime packers I whip it out and measure them LOL. Still haven't found a small enough one there most are ~18-20" and it is the only place in town that carries them. Hy-Vee only has flats, and there are plenty there that are ~16" so I know they exist but I want the point too! In fact because I have so much left overs I would buy just the point if they offered it.

Went to wallyworld. They didn’t have the Lockhart. But they had the pellet propane combo. No, I did not buy one

Ha, just catching up. You beat me to it. I just smile every single time I run my pooper and see the smoke rolling out, thinking of all the no smoke, or smoke ring from a pooper.

The hickory char do have a lighter flavor. Try the hickory ones.

Have you tested them in boiling/ice water? I posted earlier, but no replies about different brand/aftermarket probes being way off in my experience.

Naw... PITA to test them when plugged into the smoker.. but I do double check the temps with another independent probe and they're close enough that I don't sweat it.
