What kind of smoker/cooker is this? A KBQ? Just curious! Putting out some good stuff!

    Prepare your wallet!

    Oof, yes, for sure.

We just stayed in San Diego for a couple days and had 2-3 days of tacos. The little old lady out front was making the tortillas.

Not me. Are you thinking of the sake wings? Can't remember who came in with that, but THOSE were good.

    Also no air fryer here.

I air fry wings a lot but I don't think mine are what you were thinking of either...

The impressive part @nDub is that you picked the only two people in this thread without an air fryer

Just got back from spending 4 days in Austin for a buddy's bachelor party. We had Franklin BBQ catered for our day out on the barge on Lake Travis. Holy shit, I have seen the top of the mountain! I've been wanting to hit Franklin for a while since I go to Austin once a year for MotoGP, but the timing doesn't jive with track activity all day long. It's ALMOST worth ordering on Goldbelly if your wallet doesn't mind taking the hit. The brisket was especially noteworthy--best I've had by far. Definitely motivated me to get after it on the smoker once I recover in about 3-5 business days.

    Franklin is good.

To me, not worth the wait. I wouldn't turn it down, sounds like y'all had it figured out.

My favorite: Have also heard, but haven't had any yet, unfortunately:

Local when we were down there "I can tell you none of the locals will wait in line for BBQ" - browns is my favorite anywhere, I need to find an excuse to get down to Austin soon now...

    It's a MAK Grills 2 Star General. https://makgrills.com/product/two-star-general/

I bought it in 2015... my wife and I thought it would make a good 20th wedding anniversary gift for us. Looks like they went up a bit in price since then too. I know they're constantly making improvements to their grills, and they're also big on keeping the materials used USA made, and they don't outsource manufacturing.

It's been great. We use it often and for all kinds of stuff... smoking meats, making lasagna, cobbler, cookies, pizza, beef jerky, quiche, you name it. The only thing I've had to replace so far is the igniter, and when I did there was an updated version that is supposed to have several times the longevity of the original. And at some point I'll need to replace a pizza stone that I had cut for it.

I’ve been to Valentina’s, last November. Didn’t think it justified the price. I ordered a combo for the four of us, $140 and….it was fine. It was a rainy, cold day…and maybe that had something to do with it. I think the sausage was what I liked the most out of everything we got. My parents ended up with tacos or something to the like. They liked what they got. Perhaps my expectations were a bit too high? I don’t know…

If sausage was your favorite from a bbq joint I'd pick another place.

I was visiting Austin for a wedding. I wouldn’t go back to Valentinas, not for the bbq. Perhaps the Tex/mex taco portion of the menu. But, I don’t think I’ll be in Austin anytime soon, and I’d most likely pick another spot.

    Eh, to each their own.

PS - Whenever I try a new place, I go for turkey and sausage too! Brisket's good and all, but I tuck into the sausages. It's obnoxious, up in New England you don't get any of that.
