Hoisin = Asian Ketchup…

 

Ketchup sucks. Hoisin is amazing.

 

I didn’t compare them for flavor. Just that Hoisin is the ketchup of Asia. It’s everywhere and comes in several versions/brands.

 

Fair enough.

I've only ever had Lee Kum Kee and Kikkoman gluten free. The Kikkoman is missing something (besides wheat) that doesn't taste quite as good but for my wife, it's certainly better than nothing.

 

I looked around for the recipe. Can you repost or link?

I made some with ground venison with a random web recipe. It was tasty enough, but too much orange flavor (and I like orange). I even added five-spice which was not called for, but was missing punchy flavor. I want to do with ground pork or beef, and change up the flavor level.

Next time, I'll likely decrease the chicken broth to 1 cup instead of a cup and a half.

 

Kung Pao Tofu



My wife found the recipe but somehow she talked me into making it.

 

Sunday sauce bacon 3 cheese Italian kale whole wheat pasta bake

 

Wow. Taste is smoky good. I sautéed slow cooked country rib meat with double smoked bacon

Wife said restaurant special worthy

 

It’s on!

 

Yall need to fry some tortellinis. My breading was half left over fish fry mix and half bread crumbs with some oregano. So good.

Mind sharing that recipe?

I mean I know what all those words mean, individually.
Looks great.

Went to the grocery store we don't usually go to the other night, so I have several cans of water chestnuts now. Making that egg roll in a bowl tonight.

My wife plans about as well as I do so we didn't have any rice wine or sake on hand so we skipped that.

And she didn't buy any bell peppers or celery as she was planning on using some frozen stir fry veggies we already had.

And she didn't buy any Sichuan peppercorns or Tianjin chiles so we used a healthy scoop of spicy chili crisp.

AND we didn't have any peanuts so we used cashews.

Did we even make that recipe?

 

I’ve used dry sherry in a pinch.

 

Like we have any of that, either!

 

Has Italian kale!

Country ribs, slow cooked, deboned, then meat sauteed with 4 slices of bacon. When bacon cooked, drain off fat. Then I made up Italian grandpa's sauce, let that sit and cool while football on. Add in meat, then shredded Lacinato kale. Cook, cool. Grate cheese. Cook up protein whole grain pasta. Cool. Mix all together, dump in a casserole dish, more cheese on top and blobs of fresh mozza.

Bake 375° 25 minutes or so, maybe a little more. Broil to brown top. Allow to cool for a few long minutes.
