I appreciate all the suggestions, I’m looking at everything!

Noni look like a cactus crossed with a pineapple on the outside.
Devils trumpet is like an eggplant (mad Apple)
Soursop are formed more like jackfruit, but the leaves are totally wrong as it’s a bigger plant.

The plant reminded me of pepper bushes, but the “fruit” confused me. It was being grown like one would an ornamental or beneficial, but in a bed at a commercial establishment.

Definitely not that. In the more broad photo you can see several of those balls. Probably the size of a ping pong ball.

I think @wilcam47 is right on the devils trumpet. I did a pretty deep dive and all things were pointing me to nightshade and devils trumpet is a night shade this is just a seed pod after the pedals have fallen away. Notice how the fruit is pointing up from Hell (devils trumpet) not down from heaven (angels trumpet). Just my opinion though I’m not there doing an extra detailed taxonomy.

lol, I appreciate that. A difference is the smooth with spikes. However the example is more wrinkle cactus.
Who knows… I didn’t really think about all the ways the interwebs could assist. Gonna try off the leafs photo.

Shepard's Pie, how would you like your Shepard.

Smoked beef tongue is awesome. When I was in the big city I used to buy blood and tongue sausage for lunch meat. Chunks of tongue in a blood matrix.

Well, I finally found it on a tangent (rabbit hole)… everyone is correct… it’s a relative/variant of devils trumpet called Hindi Metel and…
“In India the plant is used to treat headaches, sores, mumps, dropsy, epilepsy, convulsions, smallpox, and venereal diseases, and the leaves are made into a poultice to relieve rheumatic pain (Jasin and Borthakur, 1986). Seeds are pounded and used in a paste to treat leprosy. Ayurveda and Siddha practitioners use oil based preparations of this plant for all types of wounds, a use that is supported by scientific evidence (Priya et al., 2002). Ratsch (1998) provides further medicinal uses of the plant in India.”

I give credit to all my fellow sleuths, because I was able to see other avenues I hadn’t considered and considered options I hadn’t discovered. I appreciate the assistance. I figured it was some chutney ingredient… :notsure:

Hey @CTSpruceMica you know the game of "Name a place and he'll tell you a restaurant worth going?"

I'll be on Provodenciales next week, you got anything there?

(Also this question is open to all, but ^^^ he's notorious for it!)
