currently devouring:


my gf is awesome. chicken that was lightly seasoned with salt n garlic. Freshly cut lettuce with cranberries, feta cheese and sunflower sweeds. Lightly dressed with a white vinagrette.

now i gotta go brush my teeef before i go to dental

homer, can you do chicken nooodle soup minus the chicken pieces and all?? basically the broth and the soft nooodles? that way you are still getting some nutrients from chicken at least...

 

Funny you mention that! The staple of my diet post-surgery has been Campbells "Cream of ______" soup.
Chicken, Potato, broccoli, etc.

I have even been able to dunk some whole wheat bread in and make it nice & soft.

Basically Lunch & Dinner.

I also had some very good mashed potatoes w/ brown gravy that Mrs.Taco whipped up for me.

I'll be hitting up the leftovers of that shortly.

 

So, the wife gets some groupon localdiners somethingoranother to check out a new-ish local restaurant.

Now, don't just laugh at the name like I did:

Yep. It is actually called Moran's. Don't let the name fool you. No affiliation, I just ate there.

So, at first I had a really, really bad feeling, aside from the name. As soon as we hit the sidewalk, I could see giant TV screens with sportscenter on, a bunch of hipster young'uns with bad tattoos ( not just bad tattoos....like bad ink on the face and neck tattoos) and wierd PVC piercings and...white people nappy-headed-ho dreadlocks. You know the ones...with head napkins.

I almost turned around right there. Plus, they had the B-52s on the Muzak system. I was *this* close.

But, since I was there with the wife and kid-unit, I figured 'What the hell. How bad could it be?"

First, they have half the restaurant set up with couches and coffee tables to eat at and lounge on. (Sorry for this bad pic, but they were actually really comfy)



The place is basically a build your own burger type place. They had you a list of ingredients, you check off what you want, and they make it that way. They also have a regular menu, that's on a burnt piece of hardwood plank:



They have like 6 different bun types. 10 different meat types. Artisan mushrooms and three different kinds of onion you can have roasted and added on. They had italian sausage as a burger topping for gosh sakes.

Anyhow, I got a crab-cake cheesecake appetizer. No, not kidding:



So, then I'm going over the menu and they have a listing for 'exotic meat: ask your server, market price'.

No way I can not do this.

So he comes over, and lo and behold one of the executive chefs and co-owners is with him! So we chat a bit and I ask, "So, what's "exotic?"

He smiles and says, "This week, it's kangaroo. I think we're going wild boar next week."

My menu hit the table. "I gotta have that!"

I present: Italian bread bun. Melted yellow american cheese. Sauteed button mushrooms. On kangaroo. With a touch of mayo.



It was fantastic. It reminds me of venison, actually. Juicy (medium rare) and a bit of a spicy kick, but no spicy heat. WONDERFUL.

Of course, it was 16 fucking dollars. But still....cross KANGAROO FUCKING BURGER off the bucket list.

Yah mon, kangaroo burger now that's impressive.

 

I like kangaroo meat, i used to have a butcher that carried it.

 

stopped at the farmers market today....

first tomato salad of the summer:

 

Looks great! I had garden tomats on my BLT for lunch.

 

Nice looking salad dud. And nothing beats fresh tomatoes on a blt polymerhead

 

the staple of my post surgery diet:


Cream of Potato Soup (jazzed up with some seasoning) and buttered whole wheat to dip.

Ain't bad at all - just takes a while to eat...

 

Can you eat the classic "tomato soup and grilled cheese"? You can probably microwave the sandwich so its not hard to bite.

Childish snack? Yes but it is always good

 

Do want....might have to make a stop by my farmers market sometime soon.....

 

tomatoes = acidic...

I like that but can't do it now...

also have cream of chicken & cream of broccoli to mix it up.

Won't go to real "solid" foods until next week at the soonest.
