    When you get then actually ripe at picking....holy mother of...

    The problem is, in order to get them to you 'ripe', they are picked immature and shipped and when you get them, they have been 'artificially assisted' to look ready. They taste like you would expect. Think tomatoes off-season in your local megamart....they look right, but if you try to eat some raw, you get almost no flavor or texture.


    On the other hand, if you or someone local grows them, and you get them, they look and taste VERY, VERY different. And about 10,000 times more awesome.

    This pineapple? Sweet as hell, nice texture, incredible flavor, NOT very acidic.

    Buy one at the store when you can't get them locally fresh and you get pretty much the opposite.

    broccoli and cheese (laughing cow) wrapped in chicken that has been coated with bread crumbs. :)

    the brown rice was cooked with some chicken boullion and some garlic powder.

    We tried something different last weekend.

    Layered different veggies on a bed of chopped onion. Baked in the oven, then added cheese and let it melt through. Had it with grilled pork loin.

    We did not have a recipe, we just winged it, so I don't even remember the over temp., but I think it was 350 untill the potatoes were soft. I just started poking it after 30 minutes and I think it was done after about 1 hour. Veggies included chopped onions in bottom ( to soak up the goodness ), then slices of potatoe, tomatoe, zucchini, yellow squash. Some mixed italian spices, a little butter drizzled over it and in the oven. Cheddar was grated over for last 5 minutes in oven.
