Pictures like this are why I'm hoping to be moved into a house out in the sticks by this time next year. I so miss growing my own.

I have a baggy full of ghosts peppers in the fridge and an outside plant with about 8 carolina reapers on it. Need to pick them getting cooler outside.

What I miss most are tomatoes,

LURVE me some fresh, proper-tasting ripe tomatoes. I'll plant the shit out of them and use them all year round...can my own, freeze my own sauce, etc.

One reason I'm glad I stayed in the semi-south. Good long growing season here.

Ohio tomatoes are the best Nice big beefy juicy tomatoes with soft skin. 2 slices off of one of those along with 6 slices of bacon, 2 tbsp. of mayo fresh lettuce on toast. yummmmm:):)

This is y I wish I lived somewhere other then Florida... we don't have "Dirt" to grow in, we have sand and its either weeds everywhere or pay a shit ton of money to someone to have a nice lawn. Ive tried gardens down here and have never really gotten anything out of them.

My soil here in Virginia isn't very good. It's real sandy and lacking nutrients.

I have tried building "boxes" and filling with potting/top soil and I also go to the local bait shop and get a few containers of redworms to dump into it so they can help it out....

We do chickens on a rotisserie. It usually comes out pretty good maybe just a tad on the dry side. You must have a huge machine to be able to do a turkey big enough for lots of folks. two 5 pound birds is maxing our unit out.

    Lookin' good!

I went a more traditional way. Mir poix with garlic and black pepper in the crock. Then, brown up your pork shoulder with a NASA-hot pan, like so
    CAM00228_zpsoj1z8uo6_83b7846f2fbf9a601df9350aa165b69adaf1f03c.jpg

Make a quick reduction with red wine and the fond, pour over roast in crock, and add in 1.5 lbs of baby reds. Cover, on low for 6 or so hours

this is one of the few times you can say "intensely porky" without getting slapped!
