8.5 hours in. Smoke & heat from my first 1/2 chimney of hardwood charcoal & cherrywood gave out at about the 7.5 hour mark on my smoker, so instead of reloading I fired up the oven to 275. I cut the shoulder in half and cubed half of it and added the cubes to the beef for more burnt ends. In the last 30 minutes the cubed pork has passed through the stall and has started to give up its delicious golden juices and is quickly turning tender. It's amazing the difference an hour can make. What was chewy & tasteless before is tender & succulent now. If you do not know how to take advantage of the chemical magic that happens to a pork shoulder as it comes out of the stall and temps reach 200 degrees, you owe it to yourself to learn.

Cubes should be done in another hour. Shoulder is just now coming out of the stall and has a couple hours left.

Simple smush the taters up, add some butter to cream them a wee bit. A quick brown gravy and sweet corn

Looking quite tasty in here today! I've noticed the activity in this thread has jumped now that the weather has started to cool down. Guess I'm not the only one without much cooking ambition in the summer!

Yeah, that too. I have better things to do in the summer! My appetite shrinks to nothing in the summer and unless its a salad or something I can grill I pretty much don't cook dinner. Winter is a different story...love having the crockpot going, oven on, yummy food smells filling the apartment :hungry:

I'm getting the Crock Pot homebody syndrome myself. :)

Brisket was awesome. Haven't made one in quite a while.

Oh it's a syndrome for sure.

Croutons: just a little olive oil, S&P, garlic powder and herbs. Toast real slow at 275 until crunchy.

I've tried making them before but they never seem to turn out just right.

Have you cooked for her? Maybe she just doesn't know any better

Use a throwaway anon email account to subtly direct her to this thread. We'll mostly be gentle.

Keep the shed, do yourself a favor.

Look at a portable smoker to use for cooking.

lol, my wife is lacking in the cooking area as well... she can make a few things really well! the other night we found a crockpot chicken and dumplins that came out very very good! but she is the kind to put something in the crock or oven and let it go, she dosent like standing at the stove for to long... and now that she is prego its even worse... esp cause our go to meals for the week don't sit right with her and the baby!

See if you can stretch it a week.

My dad's B-day is Jan 26th. My older sisters is Jan 27th. My stepdaughter is Jan 27th.

Super Bowl weekend birthday parties are just a thing to behold. You really must experience first-hand to appreciate. It's a party like no other.
