Then you must be talking about something else, or had a different year or version of it.

Guys guys guys, he has owned THREE WHOLE TRUCKS. He is clearly qualified enough to know that no other truck on the road has axle hop. Sheesh guys.

Everyone: Here is an explanation of how things work, ways to address the issue you're experiencing, and supporting evidence that it's a common problem in a leaf-sprung suspension setup.

    OP: BUT MY ANECDOTE!!

This devolved quickly... OP your wheel hop solution wont work. It might help you with axle wrap a little tiny bit if youre launching so hard youre bending your leaf springs into an S, but if youre doing that then honestly your clutch is the weak point you should be worried about. If you dont drive a manual then you really are just a douche. The brace might limit axle WRAP, but as others have stated the wheel hop will still be there and instead of the leaf springs absorbing all of this force it will be the rear frame directly, which may last for a while but eventually will bend and make everything shitty for you.
You have two options: make your leaf springs significantly stiffer (dont do that though, everything will suck like the ride quality, except for the amount of wheel hop),
or you can add a torque arm as others have said, which wont limit articulation as much as stiff springs but will limit travel a little bit. Best solution would be a budbuilt traction bar or similar trac bar setup mounted to the diff housing, but then you have the issues with longevity if you use it for offroading regularly, but without any limit on articulation. Its all in what you can live with.

Yeah, I'm not letting this bit of gold disappear from the system. This is "thread of legends"-caliber stuff.

Except that all S-10 suspension/frames were nearly identical 82-03. Save for ZQ8 and ZR-2
