Hello all, this is my first thread and I'm a new Tacoma owner. I notice on my 2014 when I slide my foot from the accelerator to the brake pedal, the toes of my shoes hit the plastic diffuser box for the floor vent located under the steering column. Not only is this annoying, but can be dangerous when I can't get my foot in place in time. I'm a size 9.5 shoe so I'm sure that isn't a factor. I was thinking of just removing the box altogether but not sure if the non-directed heated air could affect wiring under the dash. Does anyone else have this issue?
    Thanks
    Dan

I have the same issue (size 10 shoes in a 2009 Sport), but notice different shoes hit it more than others. Haven't taken the time yet to get under there and figure out what's going on though.

Size 13, got to always take my boots off to get my feet in and drive, also under normal driving got to make sure I do not hook the brake and gas with the right foot.... At the same time.... It is like I need to drive with my toe...

Tell me about it :| . I have wear marks above my brake pedal from where I always endup pushing on the bar instead of the pedal itself. I usually opt to drive with both feet instead of having to switch my big ole foot from pedal to pedal. Oh well, big feet.

Same here. Size 13, athletic shoes or snow boots, no problems.

Find a block of wood and an axe. Place foot on block of wood and remove toes.
    Problem solved.

That is seriously strange, though. I have a 2010, wear a size 9.5 shoe, and have never bumped the vent.

I used to hit mine as well, but I have gotten used to it and haven't hit it in quite a while.

After reading this thread, I looked under my dash this evening. There is nothing anywhere reasonable close to where my foot is when using the gas and brakes.

There was some black plastic - I assume it was the vent- above the pedals but it was way up there, at least as high as the lower dash cover itself. I would have to intentionally try to hit it.

Perhaps the layout is different for some models?

OZ-T, thanks for the pic and heads up, I'll be pulling into the hangar tonight at work and removing it. Everyone else can suck it for having larger feet than me, we all know its all a myth about proportional body parts. Just Kidding

I have a similar problem - I have a habit of hitting the brake pedal too high and my toes hit the steering shaft cover. I've "learned" better foot placement now that I've had the truck for a couple of months but it makes it difficult to stop when it happens.

YES! Thought it was in my head. Only happens when I wear boots, not when wearing running shoes. Size 11... so no clown feet, here.

Gonna look at that vent cover and see if I want to remove it.

Seriously , unless the design has changed it is 3 clips , takes 2 minutes to remove and can go back on just as fast

I have the same issue. I have to angle my foot sideways. Wearing boots while driving makes it a lot more difficult and feels dangerous...size 14 here.
