V2s finally arrived and installed! Was pretty easy…maybe a little over an hour….

I still need to do the rears but I dont want to put them under the front seats…

Very nice. The aqua looks fairly close to the ice blue of the cluster. Was having a hard time deciding on color until this post.

Under the front seats for the rear is also a placement concern for me.

Yeah it was for me, too. I made some brackets to mount to the vertical "panel" of the rear cubby storage and I think it turned out great. Solid, looks good, and no concerns about being dislodged by someone's shoes or gear.

I love the lights, both front and rear. Should have come from the factory!

yeah this is exactly why I went with aqua…it ties in well with the rest of interior lights. painless install and im glad they switched the install with the overhead dimmer.

I am gonna have to order it. Seems like it is a better install than V1 (just finished reading the instructions). Less plugs in the A-pillar, less chance something might come loose. But what can I do with the V1 harness? can I install anything else with it?

You can re-purpose it to add another set of lights you do not want tied into the overhead switch function (door open) if you re-purpose the high mode. If you re-purpose the low mode you can run it to an OEM-style aftermarket switch to provide illumination without splicing wires to your dash lighting.

Hello everyone! Some of you have been reaching out asking what the next project is. Here is a link to a thread I made announcing it. There are quite a few other Tacoma-specific projects I'll be announcing sometime this year. Hope all is well and thanks again!

Here's an updated video from Chloe detailing how to install V2:

This should help the people that are still confused about the harness location change. Let me know if you have questions. Thanks!

Thank you. For folks that already have V1 installed...

Can we _also_ run a separate circuit using the V2? V1 and V2 draw from different switches in the Tacoma (V1: door, V2: dome). This would allow additional LEDs(?)

They’re on the same circuit. The connection at the a-pillar runs straight to the overhead console. All the overhead console adds is a SPDT switch to the dome circuit.

What was the issue with V1 that they had to switch the power source?

In V2 we changed the harness to enslave the lights to the overhead dome switch. V1 does not have that capability.

I have the v1 also, if I buy the v2 harness is the pwm dimmer module still used?

When I first bought the v1 I misunderstood and thought that they operated off the overhead switch.
I don’t know what the v1 harness could be repurposed for since it just dims when the doors are closed.

The V1 harness intercepts the overhead illumination fuse (+) and the ILE dimming negative side of the cab illumination. It also intercepts the Panel/Tail circuit and ground. The dimming is done by the Main Body ECU via ILE pin.

    Thanks caribe!

My previous truck was a 93 pathfinder, so all of this wiring and canbus(?) is new to me.
I guess the days of grabbing 12v anywhere are a bit more complicated.

Yes, and poking around with a test light can be very detrimental also...:(

Can you install the both the v2 footwell lights + MESO puddle pods on the same truck without issue?
