Footwell Lights That Don’t Suck

Love my Footwell LEDs, but I just notice that they dim slightly whenever I hit the brakes. Has anyone else experienced this? Any thoughts on how to address it? Thanks!

 

This is very common and we think it’s a result of a voltage change when the brake booster is engaged. LEDs are very sensitive to voltage fluctuations. We contemplated a change to the lights but the consensus was that the flicker is minor and perhaps not worth it. We may revisit it in the future, though.

Maybe stop using the brakes?

 

Nearly 2 years of the same behavior. It’s fine. I think it’s only a problem with the hydraulic booster since it uses significant electrical power to run the hydraulic boost.

 

I've noticed mine slightly flickering for almost a year now when i open my door. I have switched Puddle pods, and v5 too. I figured as long as they're not out, it's all good. It's like the truck is alive and breathing...

 

@drizzoh, how much of the dash/console did you have to disassemble to replace the cubby hole light above the qi charger?

 

I don't completely remember, but I know it only took about 5 minutes to swap. I think whatever is needed in order to swap out the push start button\trim is about all you need to do.

 

I found with mine if I put the brightness all the way down the delta between on / dim is much less noticeable. When I first installed them I had it 2 Fast 2 Furious Skyline bright and it was super noticeable, but as I kicked it more to dull ambient it got better.

The meso duals are two separate sets of leds. you could get a second set of whatever color you want, stick a switch in it somewhere toggle back and forth.

 

I have the meso lights.
Pnp would be nice.

 

I want a switch so I can turn them off while driving. Sometimes out in the darkness they can be a little distracting.

 

I’ll run it up the chain this week and see where we’re at. I know it was something we were wanting to do, but it might have fallen down the priority list. I’ll check and report back.

Simple ON & OFF switch to ground wire of module or LED bar will work.

 

An issue i ran into but now has been resolved by Vleds. I had the meso customs puddle lights and their switch. Everytime i turned on the puddles to on position it would turn on my all my interior lights too. I contacted meso and they sent me a new switch but it wasnt that. I contacted vleds and Eli gave me a trouble shoot solution and it turned out to be the dimmer switch went bad. Once replaced everything worked again. Just wanted to post this just incase someone else has any problems with the same setup.

 

So the footwell dimmer was the culprit? If so, good to know and thx for posting @WhiteTaco20 I have all these @MESO mods (puddles and switch, V5 turns, footwells with switch) and hopefully the gremlins won’t start coming to life at all…

 

Yeah i had the footwells since they came out. Had the puddles first then got the switch for the puddles. I also have the v5s switchbacks too. Luckily Eli, was able to figure it out and it was a simple fix. Yes the dimmer switch was the culprit. I went to switch on the puddles while driving and all my interior lights came on. Lol i was like what the heck. Didn’t have time to figure it out right away but I’m glad its resloved now.

No problem! Hope it can help others out who has the same setup! Vleds is great with warranty claims too!
