Oh man, thats a tough call.
I can only tell you that I went w/ red b/c I think it's the closest match to the dials/radio/clock. I don't have any blue on my truck so that ruled that out for me. And apparently red light maintains dark adaptation for your eyes best, compared to other colors or white, if you were to leave them on during driving.

That is what I figured. And then there’s Gen 2.5, yes? What is the color for 2011-2013?

Based on my understanding, it's pretty similar to third-gen if I read it correctly. Involves using the plug found in the A-pillar on the driver side. Making it plug n play.

Edit: After having said that and rereading the VLED's listing. I'm not entirely sure what I'm saying is accurate. Not sure where I read that now.

@kgarrett11 feel free to chime in on the difficulty of install. The VLEDS listing has a typo as @caribe makaira pointed out — the harness doesn’t plug into the a pillar. It goes to the ECU.

Install couldn't be any easier. All you have to do is pop off the bottom kick panel/dash, whatever you call it (where the stock switches are left of the steering wheel). Once that's off all you have to do is unplug a single plug, then plug in the adapter, plug the lights into the module and slap the light in the desired location with the provided adhesive and you are good to go. Piece of cake!

Edit: The lights don't look yellow in person

Do you know what connector? I am asking because I, and I am sure others have the 12 volt solutions remote start and I am wondering if it will work.

If it does utilize the same connector, I assume the 12Volt remote start harness doesn’t actually use the pins I’m using to control the lights. With that said, you can piggyback the harnesses (if need be), and it’s just the equivalent of adding 3” of wire onto your factory wiring. Fairly negligible. You may run into clearance issues, though.

Would this just involve depinning the plug for the light connector and then hooking them into the 12Volt connector?

I don't recall off the top of my head and I no longer travel the instructions. Can you send a pic of the plug you are referencing? @kmorgan3 can verify the plug for sure

I wish there was something out there for overhead ambient red LED lighting like some cars have, on with lights inside.
At night, it gives everything just enough of a faint glow to help find buttons, but not too much.

    example pic:
(the 2 dots towards the inside are red LED's wired up, stock)

    even better, door lights
common on cars made by Germans with common sense brain prioritizing safety

(for when you open door on street parking so oncoming car sees it and does not crash into your door, which Tacoma does not have)
+ white at bottom to illuminate your feet and puddles

until aftermarket solutions are made for those, maybe the way to do it is by hand. Drilling holes overhead to wire in LED's.
Cutting rectangle holes in the door trim panels and wiring in used light assemblies from another car
