I feel bad for the 2001-2004 trucks.
That truck short shifted by at least 800 rpm.

And while my truck is an automatic.
I feel like they all could have had much better times if the manual transmission was used.
Even more so if we wanted to cheat and use 4WD.

If you're going run for time. Run for time.
Bang the gears and twist the u-joint.

Yeah….not accurate at all. The two third gen’s are identical trucks - that .7 second difference is attributable nothing more than driver or conditions.

In actual instrumented testing by Motortrend a 2015 TRD OR takes 7.7s and a 2016 TRD OR takes 7.1s.

4runner is even worse, probably because they were always heavier as SUV compared to Taco.

actual speed test start at 0:56

Obv these trucks were never made for racing, unless modified. But it is still fun to watch.

If you want to outrun a Tacoma just buy a 'Vette.

    What is this, argument bait?

If I want a sports car, I'll drive my sports car.

Same for handling, trucks handle for crap once you drive a lightweight sports car.

And honestly, I wouldn't put ANY generation of Taco up against pretty much any modern turbo or V8 truck when it comes to acceleration. It'll lose, badly.

And that's OK, I didn't buy it to do 0-60 6 or 7 second runs.

And a smaller set of mechanical female protuberances but a bit firmer and more high strung.

I don’t understand people wanting their Tacoma to perform like a sports car. It’s a truck, it drives, rides, accelerates like
truck. No changing it. No need to speed off the line on public roads, just go and be safe.

Not gonna lie, that video did it. I'm convinced that if I were in the market for a fast 0-65mph car, I'd buy a Tacoma.

    OK.

I think it's just about to rust out completely now. Paint is also falling off it in huge sheets. It's terrible, it all faded just like a hookers make up at 3AM in the morning.
