While I think it's a lousy ad that won't reach who they need to reach, I'm not seeing what's 'funny' at GMs expense??

Maybe it's too early for me.

Well, compared to driving a silver base Civic sedan and carrying a briefcase, you may be. :D

    Or not.

Personally I like econo boxes. They serve useful purposes. But I'll agree that 'cool' isn't one of them.

I guess I'm failing to see what's so funny :notsure: That commercial has been on TV around here for a few days now, never figured it to be funny but whatever floats your boat. You can laugh all you want but it's actually not a bad looking truck, time will tell how it holds up.

Those ads are as funny as the OP is intelligent. They're not!

The new craporado looks identical to the old one. They added a bit of "lift" to the truck but that's it. It doesn't matter if that truck gets 100mpg. At the end of the day it is still a gm.

I think GM sucks, but.....their marketing team has always blown away the competition. Especially Toyota. Toyota's commercials are so terrible. Around here, we have a Venza on an ice skating rink spinning it's tires in some 'testing" and the Tacoma driving down a dirt trail.

    lame.

As much as I hate to say it, I think the Colorado looks decent. Hopefully the Tacoma is as good or better. We'll find out next week, I guess!

The OP is seeing beyond the brainwashing. There is a disconnect that he sees. The OP has a sense off humor about it.

It's a commercial typical of most media brainwashing being done these days.

    It's about psychology.

A guy has changed. Now he has awesome girl gaze at him in elevator. He is obviously cool. He walks with confidence. He drives a GM. Therefore, without saying it, GM must be awesome. GM can change your life.

He could drive away in a Prius, whatever.

It is laughable, if you aren't being brainwashed. Good for you OP.

Oh, one more thing OP. It's not a laugh at GM expense. You are probably only one person in ten thousand who felt a disconnect. Your single laugh in a massive crowd doesn't matter to them. Just for fun ... start watching all of the media with the same eye. Commercials, movies, the news. You will begin to see some amazing things that other people can't. It's quite fascinating.

I think that might motivate some prospective buyers.

Say what you want about GM and the colordo itself, but at the end of the day the commercials, the second one especially, is smart and works from a marketing perspective.

Both commercials are good marketing on their part. Notice in the first one they never leave the city or pavement. They are marketing the truck for what it is, a grocery getter that will ride smooth and luxurious around the city, before it most likely falls apart around 100k miles.

This. My wife works for GM and she showed me these ad's awhile back. If I knew the Colorado would hold up as long as my Tacoma would, I'd jump ship right now. But knowing the Colorado's history, as well as GM's truck history, they don't seem to be the longest lasting trucks on the road.

However they are still very nice trucks, lots of options, and look great IMO.
