I did if myself. I just sanded with 800 grit sand paper. Then sprayed duplicolor adhesion promoter, then their silver streak mica perfect match paint followed by perfect match clear. I did three coats of each.

Below is what I posted in my build:
Last night I removed the grill inserts and wet sanded the surround with 800 grit paper.
Today I washed it up to get it ready to paint. After wiping it down with some isopropyl alcohol, I used adhesion promoter, then the base coat followed by a clear coat. I did 3 coats of each layer. I’ll let it rest for a few days now before reinstalling the inserts. Then I’ll buff out some the imperfections once it’s on the truck.

Nice work man. Never thought you could get that kind of quality out of a rattle can. Can't wait to see it completed. Thanks for the help - I think I'll give it a shot. One can of each enough?

Yeah one can of each was good. The promoter can is bigger so I only used about half of that. I used all of the colored paint to make sure I got good coverage. I used almost all of the clear. There was a little left just because it started spraying a little funny at the end and I didn't want to mess up the finish.

I reassembled the grill last night and installed it with some new headlight housings. It was dark so I just have a couple crappy garage pics. I can get some better outdoor pics this weekend.

The fitment is pretty good. It’s not perfect OEM but it’s pretty close.

The paint match is pretty good. If my paint wasn’t 12 years old faded paint it would probably be pretty close to perfect

Here’s a pic of the back of the grill for those that are interested in how everything goes together

Thanks. I'm pretty happy with it. Seems like a decent option for $177 shipped on eBay. I spent $25 on primier, paint and clear. A little more to do the color sanding and polishing. Then you can use whatever emblem on the front of it.
