    sometimes shops (not just dealers and automotive) will create their own part number for keeping track or inventory and other functions. the stamped one is obviously toyotas #, however the sticker could be put on at the dealer for their purposes. i've worked at places that did this for efficiency purposes.

    just a theorey though.

    edit: that is curious though.... larry might be right. i gues toyota could authorize the part number change if a dealer powdercoated a set of rims. can't really restamp them.

    Correct, the they are just powdercoated from the factory the same way people are powdercoating them on there own. But since it's done by Toyota and they paint the center caps everything matches better than the fake ones. So without that little sticker there is no way to prove they are real.

    That disappointing that toyota only throws a sticker on there and doesn't stamp them differently. I hope no one ties to counterfeit stickers now :(

    I dont think this is the case because mine were still sealed from toyota when I picked them up from my dealership. I think they just mass produce the rim and since the silver is the most produced they stamp it with that part number. Then they go off to silver paint, black paint or gray paint and get there own specific part numbers. Idk about the gray ones but I bet they have a part number sticker on them just like the trail teams.
