I have a 2014 DCLB in Superwhite with original wheels, BFG's 70%, and Icon lift with about 3500 miles on it. Truck is clean, one lime sized dent from my wife in the lower rear of cab (will be fixed in a few weeks). I have a pair of nice rails with kick out mounted and fabbed up by a young man here on the forum, nice kid, but I cannot recall his name. Brake lines are steel as well and I did the foglight mod.

Truck has 36K on it of short commute time.

Im thinking the lack of sales tax on new coupled with upgrades would make $36K a fair price.

    Comments?

    Thanks in advance!

Lol, OP, if @Unchained 5150 hasnt given you the "price go ahead", you should reconsider asking price.

    I think you're overpriced by about 10k

High is relative, but the price would be the starting point of the negotiation of course.
i should have added it is a 4x4 with a tow package, Dakar expo springs, but 34-36 would be a good starting point seems like. Most of the trucks I see are holding decent value unless they have been trashed with bad mods.

I'll probably keep this thing for a long time, they are just too expensive used!

I did a Edmunds.com basic appraisal for your truck. Where you're going to get someone to cough up an additional 10k-12k, I dunno.

Btw, mods do not help the sale price in the slightest. Hence the reason you see a lot of folks selling their stuff when they sell their trucks.

    Trucks worth $30k easy.

That edmunds crap is way off for a 4x4 low mileage tacoma

Even if that's true, he'd still be off by 6k.

I think 30k is a good start. He might squeeze out 26-28k to a "I don't believe in edmunds blue book value" buyer like yourself.

NADA or KBB. Edmunds is shit.

    NADA Private party = 29,600

    KBB = 28,800

OP needs to list what options it has from the factory etc. to better value the truck.

Re-read the post I put up. I said "basic appraisal". Not knowing his list of features on the truck.

The principle of the OP's initial post is can he get 36k for the truck. The answer is a pretty solid "no".

Your point of whether or not edmunds, kbb or nada has the "right answer" to the price STILL doesn't equate to 36k.

If the OP wants a buyer to cough up 6k, not gonna happen, no matter which site we, or he, choose to pick from.

You guys are wild. No i wouldn't pay that, but Go look around at what tacomas with 150k on them are being listed for.

I understand how the used market works...hell i got mine listed for less and i have 35k into mods lol. It's called list it high because well everyone is going to try to beat your price down. If I was the OP I'd list it at 31k and go from there. He'd get more selling it local, off TW.

Edmunds is fairly accurate. It's the unreasonable asking prices that are far off... It is amazing what some people on this forum think their truck is worth. I'd be surprised if the OP even paid $36k for his when new.

It is impressive the value that our trucks keep. Made me buy a new one since one a couple of years old with low mileage had asking prices $3-4k within the price of a new one. High priced vehicles sell other vehicles. ...or in my business, I call it, Priced to Own. :)

Out here is Sunny Southern California that truck would easily go for $30-33K at a dealer, 30K Private Party sale. My 15 DCSB TRD OR with 32k miles blue books at almost 29k private party, 25.5K trade in. When I got my truck in 2014, Carmax had 07-08's with 50k miles for 24-27k!

I would say if its not your truck, then dont beat him down for it. If he wants to start at that, then let him. It is his truck after all. Im pretty sure noone on here has paid a single payment on it. So why should it matter to you?

    OP,

You have a 3 year old truck, that isn't the same gen as the new ones that sell for just a few thousand dollars more. You very well may find the right person to pay that money, Lord knows I wouldn't. However, faced with negotiating from $36k on a 3 year old truck with you, or getting a brand spanking new truck from the dealership for possibly the same starting point, I'm going with new considering there is a warranty, nobody has messed with ANYTHING on it, and it has the new car smell. Clean canvas for modding.
