What are some good places to look besides MP or Craigslist?

I’m looking for a first gen 4wd TRD double cab v6 with a good frame. (Aren’t we all?)

is that a unicorn I’ll never find?

    Some advice:

You're looking for a $12-$15k truck which is high enough to justify cross-state travel. So target the southwestern states for rust free and be willing to make a flight if needed. That will widen your search hits a ton too

If you find one to your liking, pounce! I missed out on a couple before I found one. image.jpg

Took me two months looking through CL and MP and had to fly cross country to get it. Wingnut is right, be ready to pounce, they go fast. It was a fun drive home.

    Great advice. Thank you.

I found a couple locally. I asked the right questions and the guy told me everything g was perfect, but when I drove a hour to look at the truck, it was nothing like the pics and the frame was Swiss cheese. I’m willing to travel.

    How can I

    1. Properly vet the truck through pics/video before committing?
    2. Trust the seller with a down payment to hold the truck while I coordinate travel?

Here is a link to purchase a Carfax for as little as $7. Cheap Car Vin Reports (vinfixer.com)

I sent the seller a photo of my boarding pass. I don't send money to strangers.

I got frustrated through the search process because I missed out on some good ones, but I ended up with one that checked every box for me.
They are out there, just be patient and you'll get what you are looking for.
