We are also a very close family. I was pregnant with Maxx by the time I was 20 my daughter was two and my boy was one when Maxx was born. We basically grew up with our babies. We’ve had some rough patches but my kids always knew mama had them… we are also getting back to that close place that sometimes life gets in the way of.

He has his moments, but overall he’s managing. Sometimes I’m very jealous of him for that.

All I can say.... is that owning your own business will do that to you.:annoyed:
You become sort of detached, because things still need to get done and money needs to be made.:ballchain:

I was a late father. 34 when my oldest was born. Hell, when I retire in 2 years and 3 days I will still have one in HS and the other in middle school.

We just purchased a spa (not a fan) for family time. No electronics, and just talk/look at the mountains.

Good for you! We didn’t get our kids play station until they were in 8th grade. No cell phones until high school (very limited data) and no tvs in bedrooms. We watched movies as a family, played board games, went on bike rides, did high points and low points of our day during supper. I sure wish I could turn the clocks back to that time and redo some stuff!!

Wow…sounds like we share families. We will never have a gaming console in our house (mostly because of poor internet service). My family has acreage to play on, animals to care for , and if they get too damn bored…get on the tractor and brushhogg the field grass.
    What’s not to like?

Since my kids don’t get the gaming console, they find other things to do like art.

Same here, 35 when my oldest was born, 41 when my youngest was born. Retirement feels like forever away.

Smart to do away with electronics and keep it just family time. That’s what they will remember most.
I agree about no cell phones policy and TVs in bedrooms. Still do movie night with the kids. Sometimes will watch Svengoolie and have takeout. Making memories each and everyday.

You describe that perfectly. I always struggled trying to get that (The heart hurt thing) across to people so I quit trying. Turns out this forum is full of the best people.

We did the same. Kinda. They couldn't have phones until 15 and not at school or until homework was finished and on the weekends after chores. Same with video games. We'd probably redo things too but the kids all turned out pretty good compared to others their age(s). The youngest one is 20 and the house is still chaotic at times with 3 dogs and their pet cat. :D

Life is a bumpy road with many twists and turns and sometimes it is difficult to stay on the road, but with having Folks to talk to whether friends or here on TW Shauna, the road gets better. God Bless you and the family and may you all find peace. ❤️
