    @KWB17

    Did your planners reschedule if techs called off or did the managers?

    My ops told me the same thing, but the planner prior told me no one should touch the schedule after I make it. That’s unrealistic given my shift vs. everyone else’s shift. Think I’m gonna go with managers reschedule and follow your and the ops managers advice. Makes the most sense to me.

    There will always be schedule breakers whether someone calls in or equipment fails.

    And it’s not realistic to think that should fall on me as we operate 24/7 and I’m only there 40 hours a week :facepalm:

    Did you do Work Orders and Work Reqs also?

    The supervisor should decide if it can get done or reschedule. Yes, the planners did both, they shouldn’t have to but we did.
    Sounds like you’re in more of a scheduler role.

    Its scheduler and planner. I will also be turning work reqs into work orders and setting everything up. Figuring cost, materials, dealing with vendors, ordering necessary items, kitting necessary items for work orders, and handling any projects.
    Is that what your planners did as well?

    It’s such a big plant, we have a full time project manager. And he will have a trainee during the summer. Several college kids work during summer months to see if they want to work for the company.
    The planners plan out the repair work. Get quotes for the material from vendors then add material to the work order along with job steps and a labor estimate. Depending on the cost, they leave the work order in planning done status, then managers approve the work order. They maintain the equipment in the system. Create new equipment and remove obsolete. Maintain spare parts, stock and non stock. Build and maintain the PM modules. The system generates the PM work orders with a SCHD date. The scheduling is done by supervisors and managers. Supervisors assign the techs on work orders
