I know. I did a fuel calculator the other day. Just putting in the posted highway mileage of my truck vs something like a Corolla.... $2.85 a gallon it came to $1600 a year. That number would most certainly grow a lot if I figured in the city mileage.

My truck is worth lots of money right now. I could sell it or trade it on a Corolla Hatchback to commute and then buy an old beater truck.

I feel like your truck is in better shape than most of the stuff on dealers lots. You sit are a perfectionist with the maintenance on it. I wouldn't give it up for a beater like our friend @Delta09 :D

@Tacoma Mike How'd your weekend of racing go? Haven't seen you around much on here, hopefully you're busy catching the fist that @Sig45 couldn't get!

Not well. Tires didn’t come out of their flat spot. So severe vibration at 130 mph. Made some changes but still couldn’t stop the vibration. Finished fifth. Didn’t run the last two races because it was too bad he couldn’t see. Two new sets will be at the track this weekend. We’re going to kick some ass.

Finally got the SUV A/C fix. The garage charge $1,000 to replace the compressor.

Don't know if this is expensive or fair.

I actually wouldn't mind an old truck. It would give me something to wrench on for fun and still be able to make Lowes and Home Depot runs

So coil pack and wires installed on the beater today. Haven't driven it far, but it seems to idle and go up to 2K alot smoother. If it doesn't rain tomorrow I'll take it for a spin and see.

Meanwhile I've been meaning to paint the rear spoiler thing. It was faded, peeling, etc. Decided today was the day...

    Before:

Prep'd (couldn't remove due to frozen wiper arm and gasket is no longer available):

    After:

Also found some old Plastic Dip in my stash so I did the peeled off trim.

    Before:

After: (not perfect, but atleast it's black now and blends in)

Not perfect, but a whole helluva lot better than it was. Pretty much wraps up the Talon at the moment. Just gonna putz it around town for the time being...

Every little thing you do to it makes finding a decent Neon motor an option and just keeping it.....assuming the current engine turns out to be sketchy

Current engine is tired. If you let it idle for a while it will start smoking you out. It's a whole lot better than it was when I bought it, so maybe it's slowly coming out of it. The Rotella T5 has all them dinosaurs and vitamins a feller needs to clean them stuck rings...

You're good, damn good! Guess the parking brake lever all the way up like that is the telltale sign. It's on the list of things to do. Looks simple enough to do, just hate getting out the jackstands and crap again...
