    A few weeks ago we had a guy in a stupid quick Audi tagged a cone....accessed the mandatory 2 seconds. But after further review and consultation from a corner worker they took it back.

    Turned out his front splitter sheared the top half of the cone cleanly off leaving the bottom half in the box. Still a cone in the box....so it counts.

    I've seen every conceivable type of cone carnage. But 1st time for that one

    Afternoon folks :hattip:

    Quick run over the mountain this morning to grab some impact sockets and then got right to work on the Camry. Even though the car only has 31k the factory rotors were spent. I drive like an ass and the mountain will do that. Raybestos Street Performance rotors and Element 3 pads were the ticket! Got em installed and bedded in. Have to learn how to drive it again. Any amount of moderate pressure and it brings er' right down!

    Surprisingly the rotors were seized to the hub already. Good thing Toyota gave a couple threaded places for a metric bolt to get it out.

    That's all I'm gonna accomplish today. Stocked up on beer and snacks, I'm staying home :rofl:

    Nice job. I like to put a little bit of antiseize on the backside of the rotor hat and hub bore. Helps to keep them from seizing

    Yup, I did exactly that. I'm probably the next guy that's gonna work on it so I don't want to screw myself in the future. The corrosion buildup was more than I thought it would be. Guess 5+ years in the rust belt will do that.

    The brackets where the hardware clips go were a little corroded underneath so that had to be taken care of as well. Makes me want to pull the rears apart, clean, and lube everything.

    Did you clean the bk slide mount surfaces?

    Might be controversial, but I did not lube the outside of the hardware where the pads slide, but I did under the hardware to slow down corrosion buildup. Cleaned them before lube, of course. Pulled the pins out, wiped clean, and added a little bit of fresh lube. Mating surfaces on the caliper were also cleaned/lubed.

    EDIT: Also added a couple drops of blue loctite to bracket bolts and used a torque wrench to tighten them down.

    Afternoon folks.

    So the wife’s Corolla developed a dash buzz....right in front of the driver, towards the windshield. You could put your hand on the dash, a few inches from the gauge cluster and it would stop.

    Tried a few things...to no avail. So I pulled the gauge cluster and added a couple of small blocks of high density foam....one between the underside of the dash pad and an HVAC tube right behind the cluster and one between the underside the pad and what I think is the DRL module. These both put a little upward pressure on the dash pad.

    Took her out for a test drive. Boom....quiet.
