Probably. 12' boards are long suckers. And that composite is kinda droopy. Wouldn't trade my hitch extender for nuttin'.

Just cleaned it a bit ago.

Question Wood Master. This composite has a slightly different tone than the stained railing wood. The wife would like to paint the balusters black or grey. Is that even possible? Or am I asking for trouble trying to paint over stained wood?

Is it water or oil based?

I believe you can cover oil with latex, but not vice versa. So I think latex/water based would be fine. I'd give a light sanding first and prime any bare spots. They could tint the primer so it's darker to match your final coat.

Tip - use one of those small 3 or 4 inch zip rollers on those instead of a brush...way faster. If you want you could follow up with a brush after the product is applied with the small roller.

It's Olympic Natural Cedar #716. Water clean up. So I would guess water based.

Good to go. Perhaps they make the color/shade you (by you I mean your wife) want?

One thing you could also do is to add strips of tar paper on top of your joists before attaching the new decking. Just adds another layer of protection and keeps water from weeping into the old screw/nail holes.

No chance of it holding moisture in? The frame is 15 years old and in pretty good shape. Would like to keep it that way
