Ah shit, didn't even realize that was probably used in cooking instead. Don't think I could give up one of my IPA's for that o_O

Coworker just got lucky as hell, and thank god he was wearing his brown pants. Strain relief on our 220 extension cable broke inside the plug, allowed one leg to be pulled out and connected to another. He picked the cord up and all I heard was "POOMPH" as it arced out nearly in his hand. I already stripped back to fresh wire before I thought to take a picture. 793BBBEC-717C-4306-A890-7B1C62860649.jpg

Guess the only good thing was it wasn't a 480V plug. Now that makes a bang!

Also forgot to mention I did get the welder all setup and ready yesterday.

Only scrap I had was an old mower blade. Top left is where I first was trying out and the settings were all way off. Afterwards I got it. Even got a couple pieces of scrap sheet metal and stitched them together. For just stitch welds they were strong as Hell. Makes me more confident in my repairs.

It ain't no 480V welder like we have at work, but it'll do the job.

Only scrap you have? I see one big piece right next to the welder. Just gotta grind the white/rust paint off...

Karma bit me in the ass pretty quick for that one. Parents called and said "hey the price for our winter storage unit just doubled. Can we put our miata in your garage?" This car is a 99 and has 34k original miles on it, and their other option is to leave it outside all winter. Needless to say I'm now doing some trigonometry to find a way to fit all these vehicles in my garages...

They don't anymore. Sold their house with a 2 car garage a couple years ago when they inherited my moms parents house almost on the beach in Rhode Island. They had been storing the Miata in a storage facility, but the price doubled this year. So far I have most of their old furniture (feels like home so I don't mind), my fathers 12 foot aluminum boat in the shed, his motorcycle, and soon to be his Miata.
