My wife has a coworker with a Camry that supposedly has a door that won't open from the inside or outside. My guess is a linkage or whatnot that's off, bent or damaged. But I would guess removing the door panel with it closed would be nearly impossible, especially on a front door.

Any advice? Try and slimjim it open it first?

Camry’s and similar Toyota’s have anti theft coverings over the latch.
Sometimes the handle breaks inside and does not allow movement.
Earlier Camry’s have one screw by the handle and can pop the handle out to get access to the two cables. Some have to use a trim tool to spread and pop the cover off the handle to remove. Some are attached right to the panel.
There are tricks however, damage can occur.

 

Just seems like removing the door panel will be very difficult with it closed. If it's a front door even more so....since the dash covers a portion of it.

I don't mind the title because more often than not I can fix whatever it is. But I always ask her to ask me FIRST to see if it's something I want to get into. I spend a lot of my time fixing/helping people out as it is. Sometimes I need to know in advance

Oh for sure. Spring is right around the corner. I'm waiting for the usual onslaught of friends and neighbors who's mowers, trimmers, blowers and pressure washers won't start despite the countless times I've suggested the proper way to put them away for the winter. I do have one neighbor who listens to me. Every spring I bring his zero turn and push mower back to life with the usual oil change, plugs, air filters, blade sharpening. They fire right up with a bit of go juice.
