That said...I'm going out on a limb and saying he uses 15w40, 20w50 or maybe a straight 40.

    Yep 20w50  break-in oil

Phillips 66 Type M Aviation Oil is an ashless, nondispersant, multigrade engine oil recommended for use in aircraft piston engines where the operator prefers a mineral oil-based engine oil that does not contain dispersant additives. It provides easier starting and quicker oil circulation at low temperatures compared with single-grade mineral oils, while maintaining high film strength at high temperatures and under high loads for protection against wear and piston scuffing. Type M Aviation Oil is available in one viscosity grade: SAE 20W-50. It typically is used as break-in oil for newly overhauled engines where all-mineral type oils are recommended. The multigrade formulation helps reduce cylinder glazing tendency during break-in. Break-in normally is accomplished in less than 25 hours of engine operation.

Speaking of oil. This is my only wrenchin' today. Oil change on my buddy's '17 Sequoia. She's a hungry bitch at 8 quarts.

Buddy....it seems all I have done every weekend is wrench on a vehicle for someone. Hopefully I'm done for a bit. Got my 100k mile service coming up on the Taco. But that's probably a month or more away.

Yea my vehicle wrenching has gone down a good bit since getting rid of the Talon. Good thing as the house is taking all my time. One oil change on the Camry is due in a month or so and that's about it. One last free oil change on the Tacoma left so I don't gotta worry about that. Gotta get the mowers out and do the oil changes and other Spring items. I can't get my favored Rotella T5 10w30 so I just ordered a 6 qt case of Valvoline VR1 Syn 10w30.

Since I had to wash the frame a bit cause of my off road excursion , figured you’d like to see a
10 1/2 year old frame from a salt belt with FF protection. Now I need to do a inside frame wash this year and recoat everything.. going to suck without a lift but I gotta do it now…

    Looks really good Mike!

Gonna be an interesting comparison, I went with a cosmoline product on mine. Seems to have held up well and not washed off where I applied it, even after several touchless car washes with undercarriage spray. Fasteners and the diff/transfer case/etc drain plugs still have a nice amber color to them. We'll see how well it does in a couple years. I did not like what FF looked like, so this was an alternative for me.

    Nice.

About a week ago Toyota sent me a notice that they have extended the cutoff date from December 2021 to June 2022 for anyone who has not done the treatment. So I guess technically I can get it done if I want to.

For mine they were going to inspect and install the plugs and send it. I didn’t want to change what I was doing… That recall will always be open for me..

Off road excursion? What did I miss?

Got some work on the midget done today. Front bumper and grille test fitted, passenger fender nearly done with welding and fitting the turn signal mount. Also fitted the hood, a bit finicky and definitely permanently tweaked. No big deal since it's a driver and not a show car. Also got the 3D printed filler pieces installed under the rear taillights. 69203E95-7751-417B-AB8D-082010175156.jpg7D6A30E4-77C0-4A22-89C5-26CF7CA49D03.jpgAC0A0650-88BB-4C55-8880-1E3CA894CE41.jpg
