My instructor and I did it one day.
Winds were a little brisk and we went up higher for some stall stuff.
He told me to do some slow flight with 10° Flaps.
It was weird and not like before.
He said look down, we were actually stopped.
    Never forgot that.

Beavers can do that and Aeronca Champs and Sedans (one at the second year the annual fly-ins were held at Valdez had similar sentiment written on its static display area placard) can be found with more bug (blackflies) smears on the trailing edges. Flying that slow keeps the windshield clean <G> and we didn't fly with rearview mirrors. That would be scary, watching for those seven species of biting, flying insects gaining on us!

So...on top of all the other things life has thrown at me the last few weeks, the Yaris went down a couple of weeks ago....victim of a rusted rear suspension. Thankfully I noticed it before the left rear wheel fell off. The kid had no idea anything was even wrong. I have since found out this is a known problem with these vehicles. That said....there are zero new ones available any where in The States. Had my parts guy do an extensive search. There are not only no new ones available (despite what some websites imply) but a massive national back order.

I know a guy who runs a large, well known salvage yard. He says he has 2 or 3 calls a week from people looking for them. 3/4 of the ones he finds are rotted out.

So I crossed referenced the OEM part # and found out that the Yaris, Prius C and Scion xD use the same rear axle. So I called my salvage guy back and he located me an xD beam in less than a day. Shipping was kinda steep. But I'm still in it for less than half the cost of a new one. Pretty clean example from N. Carolina....so corrosion is minimal.

Sometimes you have to outsmart the part shortage.

Stripped it down as I don't need the hubs and shocks.

    Boy those suck….
    Glad you found a workaround…
Be gentle on the removal. Those leading mounts are not fun if you snap them off in the unibody.

I'm concerned about that. Are you talking about the bolts?

    Yea.
Had to do some torch, air hammer, impact, dancing to get them out. I don’t remember if you can access them from a bare interior. I’ve had to cut and weld panels to access them.
    Go SLOW…

    On Edit.

I would find a spot out of the way to do it in case things don’t go well.
Tying up needed space ain’t fun.

Yeah....if the backing nut breaks loose, there is no access. I would need to cut out the area behind it and hope for the best.

I have drilled a small hole and sprayed the top end of the bolts.
