Mornin folks. Getting ready for a wedding next weekend, and planning with my wife for our honeymoon cruise next year. Thinking of going up to Alaska.

Also the tunny is in at the dealership getting power steering fixed and 20k service done. They've got a 2017 4x4 mt taco with the 2.7 on the lot. Would've been the truck I'd have gotten if it was there six months ago.

Yeah.....it was a sad day when those 2.7 manuals vanished. It marked the first time in the history of the Toyota trucks that you couldn't get a 4 cyl manual. :(

Can't blame Toyota much though. Nobody wants them. And the 1% that does want them doesn’t pay the bills for the Big T. It's expensive to have a configuration in an assembly plant that is extremely low volume.

You should talk some numbers with them on it. That's free

It's tempting, but I honestly don't think the 2.7 4x4 would get better gas mileage than my tundra. I'm looking at the same thing as you, getting something more efficient for my commuting.

If my sales guy is there I may try to at least test drive it and see how it feels.

My buddy has located a '22 SE Hatch in Super White. Was hoping for red or silver. But I can live with white. Still on a ship at the moment.

$26k buys the cleanest, best maintained, most unmolested stock Tacoma around.

Well I test dove the Tacoma. It's number than my thumb after hitting it with a 5 lb hammer. 73741FCF-541C-4F4C-A330-0570D5A5E175.jpg
The manual doesn't do it any favors as far as acceleration, I see why this combination is rare, it doesn't turn up at all rpm wise.

All that being said, we're going to talk numbers and see what they're thinking. There isn't a panel on the truck without damage, dents or scratches, wrong front bumper cover all scuffed up.

You can still probably short-shift that thing and get some better MPG numbers. My Automatic V6 can get close to 23 in the summer, so the 2.7 should get a skootch more.

Did you really think it was going to be any different?

If I short shift it, it would stall. And I don't think I'm kidding when I say that. At 75 in 5th, full throttle doesn't even make a difference. You pretty much have to be full throttle just to maintain the speed limit...

Oh I knew it would be numb, but dang... I'm not sure it will beat the tundra in mpg. I would be shocked if it did actually

That's kinda my thinking. The biggest downside to this deal is I definitely won't be towing anything. Whereas I got the tundra partially to be able to tow.
