@kidsmoke my bike lives, but I'm having an odd issue I've been trying to track down for over three years. And anyone else is welcome to chime in on thoughts/ideas for a fix. 605502AB-8200-444F-B3C6-B74B9F8DEF9C.jpg

The issue is that in 3rd gear and up, it has a skip/misfire that completely stops the acceleration of the bike. It acts like a fuel delivery issue, but this has persisted across two separate racks of carbs, both thoroughly ultrasonic cleaned and rebuilt with all brand new factory jets and gaskets. Also confirmed all four floats are at the correct height. No modifications to the bike, original everything as far as intake/filter/exhaust/engine internals.
I've done all the basics, plugs/wires/coils/carbs and can't figure out why it won't take any throttle in 3rd and up. First and second you can rev out no problem.

If the clutch was slipping it would start revving with no increase in speed. It just hits a wall at 3-4k rpm and won't increase past that at any throttle %

Ah, okay. Only other thing I could come up with is a failing clutch safety switch.

That's an interesting thought... no safety's on this ancient bike however. You learn the hard way leaving the kickstand down with this one...

1983 Honda nighthawk cb650. I believe the only limiter is valve float? I've also replaced the cdi box with a known good one as well.

I'm probably wrong on the clutch safety but I'm guessing electrical based on your previous troubleshooting.

It's also a 4mpg difference in the Tundra. Also- funnily enough, I've never owned a 4x4 or awd in my 8 years of driving my own vehicles.

Man. You've done everything I could suggest from my Italian only vantage point. I threw your description at my Honda pal. He's flipped over 20 CB's over the years, and shows a half dozen others. Maybe it's a thing? I'll let you know if I hear anything constructive.

I absolutely would buy his truck, if it wasn't a historic museum piece as the best maintained vehicle in history.

Holy shit I'm glad all this is done!

    20220710_133042.jpg

But they're so pretty! Coated all around is the way to go.

    20220710_133051.jpg

It did take a little bit to get them fully bled, luckily mother is a seasoned brake pedal person! The drivers side caliper pistons were really corroded. Glad I spent for the good new ones, not remans.
