    Hah, about 4 hours included test drive and bedding in the pads. I did have some difficulty with the passenger side caliper bolts, but Mr. Snap-On came to the rescue!

    So his quick reply: Makes absolutely NO sense. Hasn't heard of that before. Nothing mechanically explains it. Therefore: change the ECU. Or enjoy winding it out under 50mph?

    I knew that was gonna be way too low of an estimate. Just trying to get a decent pedal took 45 minutes. Think I probably need to bleed the rear. The pads I put on are way better grabbing than the cheap Advanced Auto Parts pads they slapped on. They did a piss poor job let me tell ya...

    :rofl: That's pretty much the point I'm at. If I'm careful with how I use the gears and the 3k rpm, I can get up to and maintain 60-65!

    Those are a fine pad and rotor!

    I went with Raybestos again. I love thier Element 3 hybrid pads and coated rotors. They were really nice on the Camry. They have the same characteristics; get a little heat in them and they stop really good. Whoever did the brake job before me did a pass poor job. Didn't clean anything and barely used any lubricant. I might have gotten away with cleaning up the caliper, but I really didn't want to fool with that right now. Toyota sells a seal kit for like $30 so I'll sandblast and rebuild the old calipers. Never know when you might need them, especially in the rust belt. I think they'll fit the 3rd gen too.

    Yeah pads are easy enough to change on most vehicles and that's what some people call a "brake job". But I like to clean everything up, use new hardware when I can, lube metal to metal contact points and clean and relube slide pins (where necessary).

    @Delta09

    I never cared much for the stock rotors. Mine warped 3 years into ownership. I went with the Car Quest Platinums 4 years ago (about 60k miles on them). Not a hint of vibration or no corrosion. Absolutely as smooth as mile 1.

    I liked them so much I threw a pair on the Yaris a couple of years ago.

    I actually bought these at Advance Auto despite what the box says. They bought Car Quest.

    That's the exact rotors they put on my truck. But, I wasn't wanting to risk using them when they were $37 a piece for the coated ones. While you guys do see snow and the salt that comes with it, they really throw it to the roads here in PA. I'm betting the Carquest ones woulda looked like poo after a winter.

    I wonder if they were exactly the same ones? Because I paid $70 a piece for them 4 years ago

    After a quick search, yea they're the same ones. The dealer also owns a Carquest in the same building, so that makes sense.

    Those buggers are now $90! o_O
