Thanks, James. You reminded me of Anchorage Daily News reports: Homes being flooded in the big city because the storm drains had been covered by snow (including plow berms) so the meltwater had nowhere else to flow. Another article reported on the total tonnage of dog manure deposited on snow during the winter. After explaining the first year after I retired from Cordova where that town is located, I no longer had to, since nearly every newspaper carried the photos of 18' on the ground. The governor called out the National Guard to help clear it, and snow shovels were imported from Canada. Ten years ago, when neighbors told me that snow shoveler pay had gone up to a standard $15 an hour, I declined to visit since an AlaskaAir vacation visit would not break even.
A foot and half here a week ago Wednesday for a school snow day, and 4-5" of wet and heavy to shovel away from the two school entrances last Thursday night after night custodian work (hauling garbage out to the recycle dumpster and run the trash compactor before departing for home).

 

And coat it with WD-40 or silicone or wax or something slick...

 

Evidently you need to get to your packages before the chickens do because they enjoy themselves some cardboard..

F__ing Public Works Dept. 1/8" of a light dusting of snow and they lay down 1" of salt in my neighborhood.

We let em out first thing in the morning when we’re home. Always a chicken tender on guard duty.

 

Wasnt just here then.. there wasnt even any snow or ice on the roads to warrant it here. Wtf?

 

I'm sure the plow truck drivers have been just itching to get out and do their thing given the warm temps/lack of winter prior to this week.
