Central Maine update: wind and rain. Nothing excessive yet, we battened down the hatches and closed up all the shop and shed doors to keep the mess to a minimum. No generator for the shop, so if we lose power that'll put a quick end to our day.

 

Well take yours over and get to work.

 

Maybe if I could borrow that Willy's powered generator I brought home for my buddy. Sadly the generator doesn't actually generate, just the engine works.

 

You have no provisions to hook it up anyway.
We were asked to give ideas when the new shop was built.
They never used any of the ideas.
One of mine was a gen hookup to get cars off the lift.
Would have been like $400. Anything that required money was rejected..

 

Now I'm thinking about repowering that WW2 genset with a saab v4 motor.

 

You need torque at lower rpm… not sure that’s a match..

 

It's the ford 4 stroke v4 motor, not the 2stroke. Apparently they were used for generator/power unit applications more than they were used in the cars.

As do most people. If it was the 2stroke I'd have more interest in saving the car it's in, but I don't feel too bad about robbing the power plant from a rusty one that's been sitting in a junkyard for 12 years.

 

Hubs and I left to pick my work truck up from the dealer (still doing the same exact shit btw) and came home to no power. Gens hooked up and on. Sigh.

 

News just reported 95K CMP and 3K Versant customers w/out power.

So far so good here. Seems to be leveling off here and not as much rain as they had suggested.

 

Well, rain has tapered off. But now we're getting the wind. One power flicker so far, but nothing got reset from it.

 

We only lost it for about an hour. Internets still crapped out though.

Hopefully not too bad for you guys up there.

 

Can't complain so far. Running parts around I've seen a couple branches in the roadways, but the rain really hasn't been as heavy as I was expecting. As far as I have heard, newport up to bangor hasn't appreciably lost power yet.
