I doubt my wife is taking me to Cancun for a whopping 12 hours but thanks for the heads up! We're flying out Saturday morning, and back to Maine Sunday afternoon. No idea what we're doing exactly.

The Temp countdown has begun.
20° right now and 0 by 9am.
Then the cold stuff gets here.
-18° tonight with a windchill of -53°.
If anyone loses power today is going to be a big issue quick.
I think I may go put a incandescent light in the Gen box under the engine case to bring the temp
up some.
Lure experimentation in store this weekend…

Morning all

 

Got the radiator heater set up in the coop. Had to turn it down because it got up to 60° and the girls were panting (got their down jackets on). Currently on the lowest setting floating it around 35° inside. Chickens are prepped.

Update: -6 windchill, coop holding steady at 40°.

My nostrils froze going out to the mailbox..

 

Well, thermal control switch on my garage heater failed. Garage didn't heat, pex lines in garage ceiling froze, now no heat in the house. Wife got home at 4 and the house was 40 degrees. Called me and we've been in triage mode since. Got some heat back bypassing the switch on the modine. Hope everyone is doing well

 

Can you get that switch swapped out tonight?

 

Nope, but the heater is running constantly. The problem now is I can't get the pipes to thaw even though the garage is 60. The zone valve for my upstairs isn't seeming to open or circulate, so I may have a failed zone valve as well. The manual bypass switch moves freely, but no heat gets through the pipes. Blazing hot on one side, maybe 60 degrees on the other.
