    I've had those for 25+ years. Cheap plastic Black & Decker. I've got zip ties in the hinges to keep them from opening flat. I once stacked 24 16' PT deck boards on them and they held.

    I have some cheap plastic ones as well. They might be B&D too. Probably had them 12 years or so. Beat the crap out of them. One of them is held together by some metal hinges towards the bottom.

    The pollen seemed to lighten up a lot this afternoon/evening. My only shady place to park for a lengthy period of time is under a Maple tree. Crossing fingers it's not too bad tomorrow. Temps in 60's will be ideal. Really want to get that wax on.

    My plan is to wash and dry entire truck...then if needed use a clean damp microfiber cloth to wipe down each section (like each door, etc) and then dry with another microfiber cloth. Then quickly get the wax on.

    @Sig45

    Went and looked. They aren't B&D. They're Task Force which I think may have been a Lowes brand. Got 'em as a birthday gift from my oldest daughter when she was little so I don’t really know where they came from.

    Mine's had some modifications. :D

    Got the new battery in. What a chore! Ole Rona got me driving so little that I haven’t opened the hood since February. Rosie didn’t want to start again, so I figured the battery was toast. Popped the hood...corrosion city. Had the battery tested after cleaning off all the corrosion...battery failed badly on the load test. Got down to 10 volts. Picked up a new battery and drove home. One turn of the wrench and the positive terminal clamp came apart. Had to make two trips to get everything I needed. Got her all back together right at sundown.

    Another question for you all...

    A good friend of mine is a single mom with three kids. The oldest (17) has been driving a 2000 Celica between work and home, and when she drives out of town with her brother and sister when she spends time with her dad.

    Car has had a known oil leak on the top of the motor, but could never find it. The would have to add just under a quart of oil about every 2000 miles. When the car was gifted to her, my friend put about $3000 into maintenance (shocks, struts, breaks front and back, tires, fluid changed everywhere...discovered the leak afterwards).

    Last Friday when she was driving home from her dads (45 minutes on the freeway) dash lights came on. What was odd is it was a check engine light, not oil or temperature. She pulled over to call her mom. Mom told her to take the next exit and she would call a tow. Car tried to start, but couldn’t. Tow picked up the car and the driver noticed that the motor wasn’t turning over. Car was taken to the shop that has worked on the car for all of its needs. They have said that the motor is completely seized. There was less than 2 quarts of oil in the car. Oil light is malfunctioning.

    So, mom is in a dilemma. Should she replace the motor with a rebuilt? Should she cut her losses and get something else? My thoughts were, she har three grand in work in it already. She knows the car’s history (aunts car). A replacement car would be a mystery. A turnkey motor is anywhere from $900-1700. Don’t know how much labor would cost for installation.

    Should she replace the motor or the car?

    Oof. That's a tough call. There really isn't a right or wrong answer. I suppose if the rest of the car is solid it might be worth putting an engine in.

    Is it a GT or a GT-S? The GT was the more common of the two and had the Corolla engine. Those 1ZZ engine were used in many Toyota models and are very common. Hopefully the shop can work with her some on the cost.

    Yeah...looks like your old battery must have been leaking a bit. I like to put high temp grease on the battery posts and terminals before putting the terminals on. This can help neutralize the acid in case it off-gasses around the posts
