There might be a dent in the sink bottom or the strainer flange. Fought with mine for awhile. This old house, looks like your using plenty of putty.

I'm on strainer #3 just in case that was the issue. Also put a level across the bottom of the sink flange, no deviance all the way around.

If there’s a small dent in that sink flange and you have a garbage disposal the vibration can cause it to fail.

It's the least of my worries with this house currently... my mud pit driveway, 22 year old roof that needs to be replaced soon, windows that don't shut properly... god the list goes on.

I just saw some being installed on a new home. I'm not sure why the situation calls for them, but they're still being used.

Although I say that, my sink plumbing looks like a science experiment as I converted the not-up-to-code "S" trap to a P-trap with vent. It's uhh, interesting...

Maybe it's the angle of the picture, but is that right drain pipe not quite straight down (or the pvc not plumb)? Just spitballing. Probably not enough pressure to cause leaks.

Water leaks are tough , with or without pressure. Teflon tape and plumbers puddy in proper amounts are key. Also proper alignment of all parts, plumb, level and square, with proper pitch where needed. Retro fitting older homes is challenging to say the least.

It's out of position in that photo so I had space to get the flange nut and gasket on there. It is in fact the correct length when assembled.

I’m not a plumber, worked around them for years. The saying in the trade is, you only need to know three things being a plumber, “ the boss is an asshole, shit rolls down hill, and payday is Friday. No help, but maybe a chuckle.

When I was with Chrysler, we were introduced to this at one of the schools.
    It was amazing technology.

Now legal actions keep coming up and I am appalled they try to discredit the
Proven technology which I, in school and in the field, adjusted these on more than one occasion.

Without these, life as you know it would not exist. Aways comes down to money..
