Morning stockers, I love all the woodworking tool stories. Good friend of mine was a wood shop teacher for a few years. He was demonstrating the table saw and pushing a piece of 8/4 maple through the saw. This was 35 years ago before all the safety devices. The piece bound up and kicked back, hit him square in the nuts! CLASS DISMISSED We still joke about it.

It was his second year of teaching, we were like 24 years old, still funny as hell. To this day every time I rip something on my table saw, I think about it. I learned my lesson well and I wasn’t even there.

 

Every male within a five mile radius felt that one.

Just curious, what model year? I have a lead on a 2016 Corolla S with 130K on the clock ...thinking about getting it as a commuter to keep miles off my truck.

 

It’s a 19 with 9,000 miles on it.

 

Not sure if it will do this this but I got this on my way to the GTG with a 1,500 mile round trip.

 

Swapped out the hood bulge to get the old one painted. Our painter didn't like the idea of trying to lay paint on the chrome version, regardless of how it was sanded. I don't disagree, so now my truck looks extra special! Just like its owner....

I'm still waiting to hear back from Toyota if they're gonna do anything about it. Service manager took pictures to send off, but I doubt I'll get anything satisfactory out of it.

This is true. Although I did get a call letting me know they haven't heard back yet. Went on to say that they ran the numbers and if Toyota doesn't go good for it, I'd be looking at 1k to have it fixed.

A grand to paint the grill?

 

$560 for a new grille+surround assembly. It doesn't come painted, would have to go to the repair shop to be painted. Then disassembly and reassembly. So it was $150 or thereabouts for the paint, plus labor to take mine out and put in that one. They won't repaint mine because "the paint guys are worried that theres contamination in that part and it may do it again" so they will only buy a new one to do the "repair".

 

I’d still try and do it myself. Cost me 50 bucks to do mine.
